About the Role:

The Transport Engineer III is responsible for improving the customer experience by leveraging and creating software solutions to automate resolution of repetitive and complex network challenges. This position will be part of a team responsible for improving the customer experience through expedited resolution and long-term stability via analyzing service impacting events, automation development, tools improvement, and network reliability efforts.

What You’ll Do:

  • Responsible for organizing complex activities for the development, implementation, and maintenance of engineering projects.
  • Performs analysis and studies to determine requirements, immediate and long-range plans, and designs.
  • Utilize a wide range of experience, including professional concepts and company objectives to resolve issues in creative and effective ways.
  • Acts as a technical consultant within and outside assigned department in area of expertise; regarded as subject matter expert.
  • Utilize high level of communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships.
  • Operate with considerable latitude for unreviewed action or decision.
  • May perform engineering design evaluations including cost-effective utilization of materials.
  • May design, develop, test, and implement all components, equipment, and software within the functional area of the organization.
  • Other administrative work relating to projects and assignments may be assigned.
  • Promote positive change in the company's business strategy through achievement of customer specific objectives and technological innovation of practical and profitable nature.

Do You Have?

  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to prioritize projects.
  • Possess a broad understanding of the network infrastructure.
  • Experience writing clean and maintainable code.
  • In depth understanding of the telecommunications industry and accepted engineering practices
  • Extensive knowledge of one or more engineering disciplines and vendor equipment.
  • Familiarity with navigating legacy code bases: refactoring old code, applying new design patterns, and using best practices are a must.
  • Computer software knowledge to include Microsoft Office, custom planning tools and databases.
  • Excellent analytical, oral, and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Well-developed leadership qualities.
  • Ability to stay current with the economic and technological developments in the industry.
  • Exposure to developing monitoring processes for all services, network performance, network maintenance, facilities management, and overall network performance/reliability.
  • Ability to monitor networks via SNMP, telnet, and SSH.
  • Experience with recommending cost-effective improvements to existing processes or solutions to new challenges.
  • Skilled in analyzing fault trends and providing solutions to mitigate.
  • Capable of establishing and maintaining documentation of internal processes and procedures.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance 

 

Minimum Requirements:

College degree and 5-7 years’ experience or 9 + years equivalent related Engineering/Technical experience or a combination of education and related Engineering/Technical experience required.

The compensation range for this position is $77,800 - $102,200.
