Position Summary

Formulation Scientist is required to support multiple R&D activities in Union City. This is a key role within an expanding team of formulation and product development scientists and offers the successful candidate an opportunity to make a significant contribution to the development of new inhalation products and future technologies by applying their creative technical skills and using their extensive scientific experience. This position is 60% analytical lab HPLC work 15% planning 15% protocols and reports, and 10% formulation development.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Use physical and chemical characterization techniques to determine properties of pharmaceutical active ingredients, excipients and aerosol formulations for inhalation.
  • Conduct in-vitro data analysis and interpretation of data (preferably inhalation product testing) – via relevant statistical software packages (Excel, Minitab etc).
  • Keep abreast of relevant industry news and activity in the areas of inhalation product development.
  • Hands-on working in a laboratory environment, using Waters UPLC instruments and state of the art manufacturing and testing equipment.
  • Author high level technical protocols / reports and present technical data to all levels within the organization.
  • Follow established compliance and EHS working practices within the organization.
  • Attend and present at key industry conferences and customer meetings.

 

 

Knowledge and Skills

  • The ability to think outside the box and is passionate about problem solving and learning. Inquisitive mindset and able to identify novel ways of working and realize them.
  • Demonstrated hands on practical laboratory skills gained in an inhalation product formulation and testing laboratory environment. Proven research skills (preferably inhalation product related). Knowledge of the size distribution of aerosol particles is a preferred skill.
  • Has a high level of technical authoring and technical presentation skills using PowerPoint,
  • Has a thorough knowledge of pharmaceutical material science and physical characterization techniques. Has an excellent knowledge of industry guidance relevant to inhalation products.
  • Knowledge of GLP/GMP and related quality documentation processes for pharmaceutical R&D and production. Has knowledge and practical experience of relevant statistical software packages (Excel, Minitab etc).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience of working in cross functional multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • Relevant PhD (1 to 2 years) or BS (5 or more years) in a pharmaceutical related discipline (preferably related to analytical inhalation product development/formulation)
