Summary:

Cosm is looking for a Senior Director, Product - Platforms and Services who will manage a team of product managers responsible for defining Cosm’s backend systems that power our digital portfolio. This is a strategically important functional area of our business that requires strong leadership and creative thinking to plan the appropriate path ahead for our digital products.  

You will serve as an outspoken leader across the broader Product and Technology team who will represent Cosm Product goals and strategic initiatives both internally and externally.  You will establish tactical plans, and you will drive strategic initiatives that help solve complex business challenges. You will determine how to budget and how to resource to meet these operating goals. You will take initiative in broad-based, ongoing improvements to ensure the team functions at its best.  You will work closely with the Product Development Leadership Team to create an environment that fosters creativity and collaboration. 

You are a problem solver at a product and service level who understands users and internal developer needs - both stated and unstated - to deliver a product beyond expectations. Doing so will require a strong technical background, qualitative and quantitative research abilities, and a creative mindset and holistic approach to product management. You will set the vision and roadmap, working with multiple teams and customers dependent on the platform, to constantly drive evolving immersive experiences.

Areas of ownership include Cosm’s proprietary content management system, venue tools and services, video technology, and the internally built tools used to power Cosm’s Dome displays. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop a Cosm Platform and Services product strategy and champion the strategy to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Align product strategy with Product Development Leadership and translate strategy into actionable short-term and long-term roadmaps.
  • Partner with Venues, Content, Marketing, and B2B clients to understand user needs and to translate them to prioritized features.
  • Continue to refine and modernize our existing set of BE services across content publishing, video, identity, and partner integrations. 
  • Provide continual direction to development teams, ensuring clear momentum and successful delivery across projects.
  • Regularly communicate product plans and outcomes at the executive level and evangelize the strategic roadmap across the organization.
  • Provide feature prioritization and technical solutions to the squads under your management. 
  • Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and work across multiple teams to implement streamlined product development processes and procedures. 

Experience

  • 12+ years of experience as a product manager working with backend systems, digital platforms, and user facing apps/websites/tools.
  • Strong technical background and experience working directly with Engineering, Product Design, and Data Science.
  • Experience with microservices, API-driven applications, and identity providers.
  • Experience with digital video platform management, video player management, and user facing video related features.
  • Experience with content management systems.
  • Experience working with engineering teams using Agile / Scrum software development & other common engineering best practices.
  • Proven ability to tell a story with compelling data and use an iterative approach to data collection and management.
  • Understanding of UI/UX best practices, including when to follow patterns and when to push boundaries.
  • Experience with events and entertainment businesses is a plus.

The annualized base salary range for this position in California is $185,000 to $240,000. The base salary offered will factor in internal equity and may also vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and relevant experience, among other factors.
