Reporting to the Vice President of HR, the Talent Development Manager is responsible for the design, development, evaluation, project management, and maintenance of large-scale leadership development programs, career development, as well as cyclical talent development initiatives including but not limited to goal planning, performance management (check-ins, annual planning, performance calibration), engagement survey, and talent and succession. The role will manage talent development vendor partnerships. As an influencer in the organization, the Talent Development Manager will serve as a change agent and engagement supporter for the greater colleague population. The individual will work closely with key stakeholders, HRBPs, the Training team, and leaders to support the development and growth of our colleagues. This is an individual contributor role.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Partner with Vice President, HR in setting the overall strategic direction of talent development work and services to support the needs of the organization.
  • Lead, execute, and partner with CoE and HRBPs on the implementation of our cyclical talent initiatives and programs such as: Performance Management (goal planning, check-ins, annual planning, etc.); Talent & Succession Planning; Employment Engagement Surveys, OD interventions, etc.
  • Lead the day-to-day for small, medium, and large projects.
  • Build and maintain all resources for our cyclical talent review and succession planning initiatives.
  • Manage the HR initiatives calendar for the department.
  • Lead a cross-functional team of facilitators and coaches for DeVry’s leadership development program.
  • Partner with the training team on career development initiatives.
  • Project manage the entire performance cycle including communications and indirectly manage a cross-functional project team.
  • Manage all components of the engagement survey including design, communication plan, analysis, training, and resources.
  • Design and facilitate blended learning solutions (e.g., eLearning, virtual, classroom, etc.) that are scalable and create organizational impact.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and initiatives, making innovative recommendations for improvement and tracking progress against goals.
  • Engage and execute on all phases of the ADDIE instructional design model (i.e., conduct needs analysis, design, develop, implement, evaluate and modify).
  • Synthesize data and apply design expertise to present ideas to stakeholders and senior leaders.
  • Regularly report on the status of talent programs and results to HR and business leaders.
  • Build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with external vendors and internal partners to provide training and development resources and services as needed.
  • Enable a diverse viewpoint methodology in all steps of the talent processes to ensure objectivity and inclusivity.
  • Stay relevant in talent development emerging and best practices and incorporate into the work.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organization Development, or related field required. 
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in talent development, training, or related HR field required.
  • Curriculum development / instructional design experience required.
  • Program design/program management experience required.
  • Experience in conducting needs analysis, job function analysis, task analysis and/or audience analysis at the program level required.
  • Experience leading change required.
  • Experience delivering soft skills courses required – certifications (DDI or similar) preferred.
  • Executive coaching experience/certification preferred.
  • Experience delivering team-building interventions preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to think conceptually and creatively.
  • Ability to convey complex information in a way that people understand.
  • Experience designing and facilitating training programs and workshops.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead through influence in a matrixed environment and demonstrated ability to excel in a collaborative and team environment.
  • Ability to self-direct, self-edit, multi-task, prioritize assignments, and manage projects.
  • Savvy in data analytics with an ability to craft data insights into narratives that spur action and create value.
  • Highly organized with proven attention to detail in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and contracts.
  • Highly-developed understanding of fundamental business concepts.
