Summary/Purpose:

The Industrial OE Senior Sales Account Manager is responsible for managing and growing the sales of their specific account in the Industrial OE Agriculture and Construction markets.  Duties include but are not limited to maintaining and growing market share while qualifying and developing new business, all in support of JTEKT/Koyo’s overall short and long-term strategic sales goals through an Annual Plan.

 

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

The primary role of this position is to sell and promote JTEKT/Koyo products to John Deere, servicing existing business, and growing overall sales. This position will be the global lead for JTEKT/Koyo and responsible for coordinating between the John Deere purchasing lead and other JTEKT/Koyo regions on a regular basis.

Major duties include:

  • Work directly with John Deere personnel to negotiate pricing and assist in resolving (delivery, quality, etc...) issues on new and existing business on a global basis.
  • Develop new product ideas including bearing selection and the product approval/design process
  • Build relationships with John Deere’s purchasing, quality, engineering, and management personnel to strengthen JTEKT/Koyo’s position.
  • Strategically develop and grow relationships with existing customers while prospecting and developing new opportunities.
  • Conduct internal monthly global account meetings with all regions doing business with John Deere.
  • Develop strategies for business development and achieve/exceed annual business plan forecast.
  • Independently guide JTEKT/Koyo and John Deere through complex and political situations.
  • Obtain and process RFQ’s, drawing requests, sample requests, PPAP requests, etc. as necessary.
  • Proactively solicit and establish customer needs and requirements while communicate to corporate in such a manner as to avoid any interruption of customer production or operations.
  • Support on site visits to the engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing groups within JTEKT/Koyo.
  • Update call reports and other internal systems in a timely, concise, and professional manner.
  • Get involved with appropriate industry associations, trade organizations, etc., and attend trade shows and similar as necessary.
  • Attend regional and national sales meetings as required.
  • Develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with peers in sales organization, and corporate personnel.  

   

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Preferred, 15 years of experience as outside sales representative for bearing manufacturer or powertrain related Tier-1 company, selling to Industrial OE and/or Auto OE accounts.
  • High mechanical aptitude and ability to understand and communicate technical concepts.
  • Strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills, with emphasis in quality and customer service.
  • Advanced decision making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Highly motivated individual capable of working effectively from remote office. Two years of experience in remote office work preferred.
  • Industrial OE or Automotive OE experience
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented / multi-cultural environment utilizing effective interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication, business planning and organizational skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams and other CRM (Customer Relationship Management) tools.


Education and Experience:

  • Mechanical Engineering degree preferred, but BS/BA in Business Administration, Industrial Technology, Industrial Distribution, etc. required. 
  • Minimum of 15 years of related experience as a sales account manager.

  • Work is mostly performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards, and with substantial time spent working on a computer. Requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
  • The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of prescribed PPE.
  • Travel by automobile and plane required up to 50% of time.
