Summary/Purpose

Senior Supplier Quality Analyst is responsible for supplier and incoming parts quality management. This includes manufacturing floor support related to supplier issues, supplier PPAP requirements, supplier PPAP review and supplier PPAP disposition. Reduction of plant scrap and chokko-related issues due to supplied parts.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Supplier Quality Analyst is responsible for achieving and maintaining received part quality levels meeting QAP targets and PPM expectations.
  • Provide manufacturing floor support and supplied parts problem resolution.  Manage, report, and drive down supplier quality metrics against PPM targets. Develop and manage Supplier KPIs.
  • Lead product containment, investigation, team problem solving, internal/external reporting and material disposition.
  • Daily monitoring and management of supplier web-based Quality Systems and financial recovery of supplier induced issues. Obtain approvals for Engineering Changes, Process Changes, and PPAP approvals.
  • Develop and submit a PPAP package compliant with current AIAG requirements.
  • Participate in customer communication via emails, teleconferences, and web-based video conferencing.
  • Host supplier site visits and document trip reports.
  • Develop/write inspection/sorting instructions, Technical Instruction Sheets and SOPs.
  • Participate in internal audits (system and process).
  • Address supplier quality issues as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong OEM understanding, technical capability, professionalism, with business acumen.
  • Lead quality deployment for new programs [required documents] by targeting and achieving of flawless launch defined as zero customer complaints < 90 days.
  • Analyze customer returns and report findings, as necessary. Perform monthly on-site warranty reviews.
  • Understanding of TS16949 Quality System Requirements.
  • Able to read and interpret Engineering Drawings and technical specifications.
  • Knowledge of various inspection techniques and their limitations (dimensional, threads, surface finish, hardness, tensile, torque, pressure).
  • Understanding of basic gage calibration and traceability approach.
  • Knowledge of Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), including ability to design and direct Gage R&R studies.
  • Understanding of Control Plan methodology.
  • Basic computer and Microsoft Office product skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to construct Process Flow Diagrams.
  • Ability to construct PFMEA documentation.
  • Thorough understanding of ASME Y14.5M (GD&T).
  • Understanding JTEKT specific systems (QPR, PCR, etc.).
  • Understanding of Pump/Steering System Theory.
  • Ability to work overtime is an essential function of the position.

 

 

Education and Experience:

  • BS Degree preferably in Business, Science, or Engineering 
  • 5 years’ experience in a fast paced automotive supplier environment preferred.

  • Travel by automobile and plane required approximately 10-20% of time.
