Summary/Purpose

  • Responsible for integration of new products, equipment and processes into the JATM facility from feasibility through SOP + 1 year to meet customer and JTEKT (QG20) expectations with respect to safety, quality, delivery and profitability.

 Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Lead by example thru adherence to all company / plant policies and regulations.
  • Responsible for leading multiple customer programs across all JATM product groups and supplying components for JANA sister plants where required.
  • Responsible for execution of the QG20 process at JATM
  • Leading cross-functional teams of internal engineering, quality, PC and production resources to meet QG20 and customer milestones.
  • Works closely with Product and Application Engineering, Product and Program Managers, Tool Design, & Sales through all phases of product launch QG20 process.
  • Communicates directly with customers through APQP documentation, formal written reports, and presentations.
  • Drives problem solving teams to resolve quality issues related to new product development and validation testing.
  • Continuously improves the QG20 process. 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. 

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Must have previous experience in manufacturing and have an understanding of Quality Systems and Standard Work processes.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal and ability to interact with customer, suppliers and all levels of the JTEKT organization.
  • Practical understanding of GD&T and die set / tooling machining and assembly processes.
  • Must have an excellent understanding of statistical analysis, DOE and product/process capability.
  • Practical understanding of metal forming, processing and metrology.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project, Word, and Excel.(CAD) plus Minitab a plus.
  • Must have excelled understanding of problem solving tools, 5Why, 8D, 8 Step A3, 7 quality tools, plus Shainin Red X would be beneficial.
  • Must be professional in appearance and presentation.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, as required.

 

Education and Experience: 

  • 4 Year Degree Preferred  
  • 5-10 Years of Automotive Manufacturing Experience Preferred

  • ~50% of the work will be performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards, and with substantial time spent working on a computer. Requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
  • ~40% of the work will require exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
  • Travel by automobile and plane required approximately <10% of time.
