Summary/Purpose

The Setter will be responsible for setup, troubleshooting, and operating the Cage & Roll Assembly equipment. This will be done through the complete adherence of standard work documentation.

 

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Follow standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Perform work in a systematic manner to ensure all steps are carried out in proper sequence.
  • Perform preventative maintenance functions as required.
  • Setup, adjust and maintain gauges according to work instructions.
  • Perform assembly operations, pack operations and 100% inspection as needed.
  • Record production results, quality checks, traceability logs, and scrap as required.
  • Create box labels per customer requirements.
  • Setup, Changeover a variety of assembly machines to produce components and assemblies to customer specifications
  • Troubleshoot short stops and breakdowns as quickly as possible to minimize downtime.
  • Perform routine daily and weekly checks on machines to ensure proper maintenance and meet safety requirements.
  • Assist and support the production operators by timely setups, repairs, and material handling.
  • Train other associates as directed.
  • Support departmental goals concerning housekeeping, safety, quality, cost, delivery and Standard Work/5s/Lean.
  • Work in teams to achieve departmental and company goals and objectives.
  • Perform related tasks as defined by the Department Supervisor.
  • Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries.
  • Maintain knowledge of current quality and safety system(s) and other regulatory compliance related to this position.
  • Participate in/lead Quality Circle committee.
  • Must train in High Volume Grind job duties.

 

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong mechanical/troubleshooting skills (Assessment will be given)
  • Use of automatic and manual gages
  • Use of hand tools including wrenches, screw drivers, ratchets
  • Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, conversion from English to Metric and vice versa
  • Problem solving skills
  • Fundamental computer skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work weekends and overtime as requested by Manager

 

Education and Experience: 

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • Work is performed in a normal manufacturing area.
  • This position has an exposure to moderate noise levels, moving mechanical parts, electrical power distribution and controls, compressed air systems, hydraulic systems, steam distribution and generation, water, various types of lubricants, chemical and wash baths, extreme heat, mechanical machine operation, etc.
  • Will be regularly required to climb, stand, sit, and reach with hands, fingers, and arms. 
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, and crouching are required.
  • This position requires regular lifting of work up to 40 pounds, and push or pulling work up to 125 pounds with proper equipment.
