Summary/Purpose

 

The Safety, Training, and Quality Coordinator will research, prepare, and track new skill-based training programs to develop our current workforce. The position will also work with MESH & Site Manager in promoting a culture of discipline by teaching and coaching safe acts. The position will monitor, compile, and summarize quality data, recommend corrections for the Quality Team where needed, and submit reports to internal functions. Maintains and updates quality documents as needed. Will perform training on updated quality documents. Performs audits on production documents, parts, and processes to ensure conformance to requirements. Visual inspect and gauge parts to help make Pass/Fail decisions on product conformance. Will become internal QMS auditor.

 

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Maintain and continuously develop 5s system that addresses safety, housekeeping, quality, and continuous improvement.

Training/Development Duties:

 

  • Research and prepare new skill-based training programs to develop the current workforce and develop best practices.
  • Coordinate (times, dates, associates, and departments) and track plant wide/department specific training activities.
  • Track, compile and analyze on-the-job training data (Reaction, Learning, Impact, Application, ROI) and assist in developing solutions to close any skill gaps.
  • Selects appropriate instructional materials or methods such as: On the Job Training (OJT), formal classroom training, and outside seminars.
  • Perform hourly new hire orientation training utilizing facets of the Training Dojo and classroom training.
  • Track and create visual displays of training activities and prepare training reports.
  • Update and maintain information in the JTEKT Learning Center (JLC) for training compliance.
  • Maintain the accuracy and timely completion of records on Job Training Checklists and Recertification programs.
  • Maintain the Job Training Matrix System and audit periodically for accuracy.
  • Work with HR and Management to develop yearly training plan.
  • Works with department supervisors and technicians to develop training manuals/standard work for warehouse operations.

Safety Duties:

  • Assist Warehouse leadership with tracking and completion of annual safety plan.
  • Work with Warehouse leadership to coordinate Safety Gurdian Program and track progress in JLC.
  • Track risk assessment improvement percentages and read across improvements.
  • Collect and report monthly safety data and report as necessary.

Quality Duties:

  • Prepare sample orders for shipment & track POR completion.
  • Notifying Quality Engineers with updates of Process Flow and Control Plans.
  • Performs submissions, updates, and close out activities for Quality related documents such as GQTS, rework, IFF, etc.
  • Performs internal QMS auditor duties as required by the Quality Engineers (Requires formal training).
  • Perform document and part audits on production lots and processes to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Performs information retrieval from management systems such as Oracle.
  • Perform routine visual inspections.
  • Completes investigative activities as required by the Quality Assurance Specialist for internal and customer issues.
  • Maintains MRO room & report closer activity to site manager.
  • Assist with problem solving activities within the department or other Quality Circle projects.
  • Updates procedures and other Quality related documents. Submits changes using the MOCRR system.
  • Provides other temporary work as the Site Manager deems necessary.

Associates applying for this position must understand they may be used to temporarily augment any hourly position or other work deemed necessary by the Site Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities

No supervisory responsibilities but may be tasked to lead a small group for problem solving activities.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills, able to work well under pressure and manage several tasks simultaneously.
  • Previous training experience is required.
  • Strong Computer Skills –Word, Excel, Access, Power Point. (Assessment Given)
  • Previous experience dealing with external audits desired.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong team player to maintain a positive work environment.
  • Must understand problem solving and quality improvement tools and techniques.  This includes quality tools, preventive and corrective actions, and how to overcome barriers to quality improvements.
  • Must have a basic understanding of the audit process including types of audits, planning, preparation, execution, reporting results and follow up.
  • Must have working knowledge of SPC, including understanding how to interpret information and react accordingly.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and in small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization, which includes being an effective trainer. 
  • Must be able to multi-task to perform different tasks effectively and efficiently and make proper decisions with appropriate attention to detail.
  • May be required to work flexible hours at times to accommodate all shifts.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Previous training experience is required.
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from college or technical school in technical or business field preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing preferred.
  • Possess an Internal Auditor Certification or must be able to attend formal Internal auditor training and pass the written examination within 1 year of entering the position.

  • Work is mostly performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health and safety hazards.
  • The performance of this position requires exposure to Warehouse areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety toe/slip resistant shoes.
  • Manual dexterity for such duties as stapling, collating, sorting, filing, typing, and writing.
  • Communicate (hearing and speech) with individuals in person and by phone.
  • Visually read reports, computer screen, etc.
  • Travel by automobile may be required.
  • Will be regularly required to stand, sit, and reach with hands, fingers, and arms.
  • Regularly required to enter information into computer systems.
  • This position requires occasional lifting of work up to 40 pounds, and push or pulling work up to 125 pounds with proper equipment.
