Manufacturing Supervisor (3rd shift)

Summary/Purpose

Accomplish manufacturing results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results through coaching, counseling and disciplining associates; initiating, coordinating and enforcing systems, policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties satisfactorily.

  • Provide leadershipto manufacturing department consistingof team leaders and technicians.
  • Support an annual operating plan for department to support company operating planning cycle.
  • Support capital and expense budget requirements.
  • Be accountable to operating plan and financial commitments.
  • Lead improvement activities for quality, delivery, cost and safety objectives.
  • Identify training and development needs for department team members.
  • Support continuous improvement through Kaizen and leading positive change.
  • Support company policy and administer fairly and consistently.
  • Facilitate good communications with Team Leaders and team members for establishing expectations and problem resolution.
  • Maintain efficiency through lean manufacturing principles, human resource planning and flexibility.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position supervises manufacturing associates.

 

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

•  Supervisory knowledge in a manufacturing environment

•  General understanding of highly sophisticated equipment and software

•  General understanding of mechanical blueprints and electrical diagrams

•  Understanding of quality assurance system

•  General understanding ofcutting tools and material (machining)

•  General understanding ofproduction control in mass-production manufacturing

•  Solid problem solving skills using a variety of statistical and root cause tools

•  Excellent written and oral communication skills

•  Experience with lean production concepts and tools

•  Positive attitude to support company policies and flexibility with new ideas and different environments

•  Motivational and supervisory skills in large group and train others

•  Ability to work overtime and weekends when necessary

•  Ability to deal with stress and emergency situations

•  Highly motivated and high energy level

•  Understand and implementIATF16949 and ISO 14001 as a foundationalprinciple of operations

•  Able to learn to operate and maintain various equipment at an acceptable   level with emphasis on quality,IATF 16949, standard, ISO 14001 standard, safety/environmental, housekeeping and productivity.

•  Able to perform in a team environment.

 

 

Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s Degree and/or 5+ years of experience in mass-production manufacturing.
  • 3+ years of Supervisory experience or more preferred

  • Work shift as assigned and overtime is required, as needed.
  • Will be required to do the following throughout the shift: standing, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching above and below shoulders, moving left to right repetitively, grasping, and fine finger dexterity. 
  • May be required to lift during shift up to 40 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required with this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The performance of this position requires exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as steel toed shoes, safety glasses with side shields.
