Role Purpose: The Electronic Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining electronic control systems for a variety of industrial, commercial applications. This role involves working closely with other engineering teams to develop systems that meet performance, safety, and reliability standards.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  1.  Design and Development:
    • Design and test electronic control systems and circuits for various applications, including industrial machinery, consumer electronics, or automotive systems.
    • Develop and test control algorithms and software to ensure optimal performance of electronic systems.
    • Create detailed schematics, PCB layouts, and documentation for electronic designs.
  2. Testing and Validation:
    • Perform rigorous testing of electronic control systems to verify their functionality and reliability.
    • Troubleshoot and debug electronic circuits and systems, identifying and resolving issues efficiently.
    • Implement and manage testing procedures to validate system performance against specifications.
  3. Integration and Implementation:
    • Integrate electronic control systems with existing machinery or equipment, ensuring seamless operation.
    • Collaborate with mechanical and software engineers to develop and refine system interfaces and interactions.
    • Oversee the installation and commissioning of new control systems, providing technical support as needed.
  4. Maintenance and Support:
    • Provide ongoing maintenance and support for existing electronic control systems, addressing any operational issues or failures.
    • Update and upgrade control systems as required to improve performance or meet new requirements.
    • Document maintenance procedures and maintain records of system performance and changes.
  5. Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure all designs and implementations comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
    • Incorporate safety features and fail-safes into electronic control systems to protect users and equipment.
    • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electronic controls.
  6. Project Management:
    • Manage projects related to electronic controls, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
    • Coordinate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure project goals are met.
    • Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate project status and outcomes.
  7. Problem Solving:
    • Hands-on mentality with a proactive approach to problem-solving and project execution.

 

Education and/or Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in electronic controls engineering, with hands-on experience in designing and troubleshooting electronic circuits and control systems.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting wiring schematics.
  • Solid understanding of network technology, including Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and IP protocols.
  • Experience in software flashing/commissioning of microcontrollers, preferably in embedded systems.
  • Strong system debugging skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex electrical and software issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration within teams and with stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a dynamic work environment.
  • A willingness to travel occasionally for business purposes.
