Maintenance Playground Equipment Technician
Spring Education Group is a multi-brand education network of superior private school institutions spanning infant care through high school. The Playground Equipment Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of playground equipment, fall surfacing and associated facilities. This role ensures that all playgrounds under our management are safe, functional, and meet all relevant safety standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble, install new, and repair existing playground equipment following manufacturer specifications and safety guidelines.

Assists with equipment purchases and inventory.

Provide recommendations for equipment upgrades or replacements as needed.

Ensure proper anchoring and stability of playground structures.

Regularly inspect playground equipment to identify wear and tear, damage, or potential hazards.

Perform routine maintenance tasks such as tightening bolts, lubricating moving parts, and replacing worn-out components.

Keep detailed records of inspections, maintenance activities, and any repairs performed.

Diagnose and repair damaged or malfunctioning playground equipment.

Source and replace defective parts to restore equipment to safe working conditions.

Implement preventative maintenance measures to extend the life of playground equipment.

Ensure all playgrounds meet local, state, and federal safety standards and regulations.

Stay updated on changes in playground safety guidelines and incorporate best practices into maintenance routines.

Address safety concerns promptly to prevent accidents and injuries.

Communicate effectively with school staff and facilities team regarding playground maintenance schedules and safety concerns.
Education/Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training or certification in playground safety and maintenance is preferred.
CRPA CSPI Certification preferred; otherwise, willing to send to certification program.
Previous experience in playground equipment installation, maintenance, or a related field.
Familiarity with various types of playground equipment and surfacing and their maintenance requirements.
Working knowledge of computer applications, including Word, Excel, and Google Sheets.
The role will involve travel between different bay area school locations.
A valid Driver's License is required. A monthly vehicle allowance will be provided.
Must successfully pass a criminal background check that is compliant with the California State Education Code
Skills:
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints.
Proficient in using hand and power tools.
Excellent attention to detail and safety consciousness.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials.
Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Capability to perform physically demanding tasks such as climbing, bending, and kneeling.
This position will primarily work outdoors and may be exposed to varying weather conditions.
