About the Role

As a Part Time Dance Teacher at Merryhill School, you will have the opportunity to inspire students through dance education, fostering a love for dance and helping them develop their dance skills and knowledge. Our dance program is designed to encourage creativity, critical thinking, and a passion for dance that students can carry with them throughout their lives. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic dance teacher who can create a dynamic and inclusive learning environment for our students.

You will also…

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive dance curriculum that includes jazz, contemporary, and hip-hop styles.

  • Choreograph and manage dance shows for parents and school events.

  • Teach dance classes to students in grades 1st-6th and middle school elective courses, maintaining a class size of 24 students per class.

  • Encourage students to explore different dance styles and techniques.

  • Communicate with parents or guardians about their child’s progress and involvement in the dance program.

  • Maintain a well-organized and engaging classroom environment that supports student learning and creativity.

  • Collaborate with other faculty and staff members to integrate dance education into the broader school curriculum.

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Dance Education or a related field from an accredited college or university.

  • Teaching certification in dance education preferred.

  • Prior teaching experience, particularly in a school setting, is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of jazz, contemporary, and hip-hop dance styles.

  • Ability to choreograph dances for various age groups and skill levels.

  • Ability to pass both state and federal background checks.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Passion for teaching and a commitment to student development.
