General Responsibilities:

The Team Float is responsible for providing hands-on support to the Dentist, completing preparation work to efficiently care for patients and assist during dental procedures. When there is PTO or other time when the front desk PSRs are short, the float is to assist there as well. The Dental Patient Service Representative is responsible for welcoming and assisting patients with; scheduling of appointments, taking charge of all aspects of registering the patient, answering all incoming calls, collecting charges, taking complete and accurate messages, and documenting appropriately.  Takes complete and accurate messages, schedules appointments, takes charge of all aspects of registering patients, answers all incoming calls, collects charges for the office visit.

Qualifications:

 

Required Qualifications:

• Accurate data entry skills

• Excellent communication skills

• Minimum High School diploma or associate degree

• High school diploma or equivalent

• X-Ray Certification (or completion within 6 months of hire)

• BLS Certification (or completion within 6 months of hire)

• Experience using computers for a variety of tasks.

• Good written and verbal communication skills.

• Consistently professional appearance and attitude.

• Able to provide great patient care

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Medical terminology, diagnosis coding and billing procedure knowledge 

• Experience with dental insurance and payment collections

Significant Job Functions:

• Four handed dentistry

• Setting up dental procedures

• Sterilization of dental instruments

• Taking alginate impressions

• Pouring models

• Take digital dental x-rays

• Document vitals and chief complaints in chart

• Document treatment plan in chart

• Correctly identifies appropriateness of appointment scheduling. Directs emergent needs to nurse manager for further triage.

• Reviews clinician completed encounter sheet for appropriate completeness of form.

• Prepares patient records for office visits, mounting labs, entering appropriate forms as needed.

• Responsible for complete and accurate data entry of all information which includes patient registration, encounter billing information and changes in insurance information.

• Responsible to ensure all charts and forms for the office visit is ready for the provider: i.e., encounter form, chart forms and appointment list.

• Responsible for assisting in answering all incoming calls, taking accurate messages.

• Assist in scheduling of appointments and directing appropriate calls to the triage nurse.

• Collects payments, obtains referrals to specialist and schedules upcoming appointments when necessary.

• Provides reports of daily productivity, collection standing, and problem areas of the front desk to the Operations Director daily.

 

Physical Effort/ Environment:

• The duties of this position are performed onsite at a Thundermist location.

• General office environment. Must be able to operate PC, answer multiple incoming telephone lines, take accurate written messages, verify all insurance coverages and files.

• Moderate physical activity, walking, standing, sitting, bending, and stretching.

• This position requires the use of fingers and hand manipulation using instruments and dental equipment. On feet most of the day.

Work Schedule Demands:

• As determined with department hiring needs.

• Must be available for overtime, including nights and weekends, when necessary.

 

Communication Skills:

• This position requires the ability to verbally communicate with patients.
