The National Director of Nursing is responsible for organization-wide nursing activities which includes planning, organizing, implementing, training, compliance and evaluating nursing services to ensure the best possible health for people we support. Directs multi-state clinical staff and is responsible for assessing and improving different aspects of nursing systems and processes. Works collaboratively with the Clinical Care and Operation’s teams to implement corporate policies and nursing practices that meet all quality objectives.

Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s degree in related field.
• Current RN License in good standing. Preferred Certified Developmental Disabilities Nurse through DDNA 
• Ten years of nursing experience, preferably with individuals with developmental disabilities, including at least 4 years of progressive leadership experience.
• Ability to travel 25% of the time into our states of operations.
• Possesses strong communication and organizational skills. 
• Must have knowledge of nursing care principles, procedures, and practices. 
• Basic knowledge and understanding of intellectual and developmental disabilities and belief that all people have the right to dignity, respect, opportunity, and full community inclusion. 
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects. 
• Must be a positive team player and maintain a positive attitude. 
• Must be flexible in working hours and be willing to work extra hours as needed.

• Base salary range is $95,000-$127,000 based upon experiences and education related to the position.

Responsibilities:

• Ensures a high quality of nursing care is delivered to all clients of AbleLight.
• Establishes departmental policies, practices, and procedures that ensure the best care for the people we service.
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives aimed at improving health care outcomes for the people we support.
• Directs, monitors, and evaluates nursing care in accordance with regulations and established policies and procedures. 
• Contributes to strategic planning, direction, and goal setting for the nursing team in collaboration with senior management.
• Tracks quality control, budgeting activities, compliance, and overall financial performance of the nursing department, including staffing and potential openings for nursing positions. 
• Leads and directs the work of other employees and has responsibility for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination.
• Coaches’ leaders who have direct reports in people leadership.
• Ensures high levels of engagement throughout the nursing team.
• Mentors and provides career development or succession planning to nursing staff and subordinate managers.
• Ensures nursing team is properly trained and skilled in all areas of required nursing.
