This position is responsible for assisting the Behavior Analyst, providing direct support, positive direction, and assistance to individuals in accordance with program policies and procedures, state and federal regulations, and personal outcome measures. Conducts, evaluates and supports the implementation of behavior plan strategies. Assists in the implementation of individualized goals and objectives for home, community, and center-based programs as indicated by the needs of the persons we support. Assists in collecting data related to any challenging behaviors as requested by the behavior analyst. Assists during crisis events.

 

Education and Experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  •  One year of experience as a Direct Support Professional or related job working with people with developmental disabilities preferred or as required by regulations.
  • Must be 18 years of age, or older.

 

Licenses or Registrations:

  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certificate preferred but not required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and good driving record as defined by AbleLight policy.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours including evenings and/or weekend hours.
  • Clear background checks as defined by regulations and policies.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift at least 50 pounds. Ability to do daily standing, bending, and lifting.
  • Must be able to stand for 8 hours at a time.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ensures appropriate behavioral data systems are implemented such that quantifiable behavioral data is collected at regular intervals to allow for the continual evaluation of behavior plans and the achievement of individual goals and objectives.
  • Supports DSPs on the proper implementation of reinforcement, proactive and preventive behavior programs and plans, data collection systems and all necessary monitoring and reporting systems.
  • Meets regularly with the Behavior Analyst and notifies her/him immediately of issues impacting people we support's progress and satisfaction
  • Develops written documentation regarding behavioral recommendations. Completes in a timely and satisfactory manner as requested by the Behavior Analyst.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of all Support Plans. This includes providing needed supports to individuals with complex medical and/or behavioral support needs. Supports needed may change frequently as goals are assessed and revised as needed a minimum of monthly.
  •  Assists people in achieving their personal goals and desires, providing interaction and choices for activities that support a meaningful day, and supporting people to be independent in activities of daily living.
  • Provides supports by assisting with daily personal cares including showers, dressing, changing briefs, rounds/checks to ensure safety, assisting in all daily living activities.
  • Responsible for learning and following all Support Plans, Crisis Management Procedures and Medical Protocols such as seizure protocols, etc.
  • Responsible for cooking and maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly home by following safety and infection control procedures including following local health department guidelines around safe food handling; educates people about maintaining homes.
  • Maintains open communication and cooperative work effort with Lead DSP, Program Manager, Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional, Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse and other staff to assure quality and continuity of support to people served.
  • Maintains and documents billable caseload Ensures proper billing entry
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
