Maintenance - Refrigeration Technician

The Maintenance Technician is a multi-craft position that requires a working knowledge of refrigeration systems, mechanical, and electrical.  You will be responsible for supporting the refrigeration system on 2nd shift, making repairs as needed. This position provides emergency and routine maintenance support to the operations departments in an industrial/automated environment.

 

This role is 2nd Shift with hours ~2pm - 10pm, Monday - Friday. 

 

What You Will Do at Acme:

  • Performs maintenance duties as required during 2nd shift while sanitation activities taking place.
  • Be self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision during shift.
  • Monitor machine performance including downtime and output performance of equipment.
  • Maintains and schedules PM/WO assignments and projects.
  • Works and performs the repair and maintenance of all equipment.
  • Provides the support and guidance for ensuring all Refrigeration/HVAC/ equipment and facilities are in good repair and meeting production requirements.
  • Oversee and manage HVAC procedures and operations.
  • Supports and prioritizes necessary repair and troubleshooting by managing priorities aligned to operational needs.
  • Document information as required for CMMS i.e. PO, WO, PM.
  • Provides guidance to leadership on root cause failure analysis.
  • Develop and maintain vendor relationships and order material as appropriate through maintenance management.
  • Safety as priority while maintaining Lockout/Tagout programs, Hot Work permitting, etc.
  • Maintain plan equipment to OEM standards or better through continuous improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

About You

Your Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 2-year Technical Associate’s degree preferred, but not required.
  • 2+ years relevant experience in Refrigeration/HVAC maintenance and installation.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as electrical and pneumatic drawings, safety rules, operations manual, and written directions.
  • EPA HVAC Universal Certification.
  • Demonstrate electrical controls skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical controls in an industrial setting.
  • Proficient in Refrigeration/HVAC and facilities maintenance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

Your Skills & Abilities:

  • Installation and troubleshooting skills for heating and cooling systems.
  • Finding and fixing the source of a problem.
  • Finding or altering replacement parts.
  • Installing individual parts (pumps, pipes, fans, etc.).
  • Using power tools safely.
  • Maintaining air and water treatments in HVAC systems.
  • Completion of training programs as assigned and/or required including standard of work.

Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with the body, arms or legs to perform job tasks. 
  • Must be able to reach above and below shoulder height to move products.
  • Ability to climb stairs; this includes the ability to move throughout all areas of the facility.
  • The ability to lift, push, pull, or carry objects using hands, arms, back, abdominal muscles, shoulders, legs, or a combination of these muscle groups.
  • The ability to wear all necessary personal protective equipment to perform job duties.
  • The ability to work in cold (32 to 45*F) and wet environment.     
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

  • Follows EHS, GMP, HR and other company policies.
  • Wear required PPE.
  • Follow mandated OSHA regulations.
  • Report all incidents including near misses immediately.

Compensation Range:  $30.00 - $42.00/hour.
