Position Summary:

Student will assist fashion faculty with a variety of tasks as needed.

 

Essential Job Functions:

This may include but not be limited to:

  1. Act as monitor for evening open studio hours in the Design Studio (SCI223) or CAD studio (2nd floor, Alumni Hall), Maintain equipment in the design studio.
  2. Help with the Historic Costume Collection (accessioning, storing, prepping for display, maintaining and researching artifacts).
  3. Clean and helping organize storage spaces for the fashion department.
  4. Prepare teaching samples, exhibits, publications as needed.
  5. Other tasks as requested by the fashion faculty.

 

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. 

 

The individual is routinely exposed to indoor conditions, minimum outdoor weather and temperature extremes, and moderate noise level.

 

Qualifications/Prerequisites:

 

  1. SKILLS  
  1. For the open studio hours; students need competent basic skills in the areas of clothing construction and CAD – depending on which studio needs monitoring. They will also need to be dependable and reliable.
  2. For the historic costume collection and other tasks: the ability to take instruction well, knowledge of and appreciation for clothing.
  3. For all student workers: Dependability and reliability as well as a willingness to be helpful and learn.

No experience necessary.

 

  1. EDUCATION
  1. Can be any major and any class (year), but fashion students are preferable.
