Position Summary:

The ELCDC Peer Educators are a resource to their peers, the campus community, and external constituents such as employers. This position offers flexibility to not only help your fellow students learn about their career journey, but to offer concrete steps for your career development as well. We are looking for passionate peer educators to bring their unique skills to the table and create a lasting impression on the ELCDC and Albright community.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Ensure a welcoming environment for guests in person and through phone conversations
  2. Advise peers on select, relevant topics
  3. Keep the Career Closet clean and accessible for students
  4. Promote ELCDC events, services, and resources to peers, student organizations, and faculty departments through social media and word of mouth
  5. Coordinate and execute student engagement initiatives to raise awareness of the ELCDC events and services
  6. Complete administrative tasks and prepare materials for events
  7. Collaborate with ELCDC staff for event set-up, implementation, and clean up
  8. Represent the ELCDC at select Admission and Alumni events

 

Commitment

  • 5-10 hours per week, during Fall and Spring semesters
  • Attendance at a paid training to be completed before the start of the Fall semester.
  • Attendance at all training sessions including one hour, biweekly team meeting during the Fall and Spring semesters – Days/Times to be determined based on team availability.

The individual is routinely exposed to indoor conditions, minimum outdoor weather and temperature extremes, and moderate noise level.

 

Qualifications/Prerequisites:

1.  COMMUNICATION

  1. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  2. Strong customer service and communicates in a professional manner
  3. Ability to effectively present to groups and individuals
  4. Professionalism with regard to timeliness, attention to detail, problem-solving, and working with confidential information

 

2.  SKILLS

  1. Knowledge of MS Office software applications, social media platforms, and Handshake
  2. Interest in helping others with a knowledge of resources on and off campus
  3. Ability to work well in a team and independently
  4. Reliability and punctuality

 

3.  EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE

  1. Prior customer service experience preferred but not required

4.  EDUCATION

  1. Applicants must be full-time student status in any major
  2. Applicants must be in good academic standing
  3. Experience with an internship, undergraduate research, or study abroad preferred, but not required
