Position Summary:

This is a student position doing inventory work in the department of chemistry and biochemistry. The student in this position will assist in recording and updating the chemical inventory in the Science Center. Level 1

Essential Job Functions:

  1. The student in this position must comply with all safety mandates in the department, including wearing pants, a laboratory coat, and safety glasses at all times.
  2. This position will assist the Chemical Hygiene Officer in maintaining a current inventory of the chemicals used and stored in the Science Center.
  3. The student in this position will put chemicals into the chemical inventory system through entry on a computer; move chemicals in the system if they move locations in the building; and remove chemicals in the system upon disposal.
  4. The inventory student may assist in the disposal of waste using following the policies and procedures of the college.
  5. The inventory student will perform other tasks related to the functioning of the teaching and research laboratories in the Science Center at Albright College.

 

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. 

The individual is routinely exposed to indoor conditions, minimum outdoor weather and temperature extremes, and moderate noise level.

Qualifications/Prerequisites:

 

  1. SKILLS
    1.  The worker will have had experience with safe laboratory practice.

 

  1. EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE
    1.  No previous employment experience is required.

 

  1. EDUCATION
    1.  The worker will have completed at least one course in chemistry.
