Position Summary:

Chemistry organic student group leaders, also known as conference group leaders, will meet with small groups of students for CHE 207 and CHE 208 to review course content and reinforce the instruction provided in CHE 207 and CHE 208.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Each week, conference group leaders are expected to meet with the instructor for the course; prepare for the conference group meeting; and implement the conference group meeting. Implementation means that the conference group leader takes attendance and actively engage with the students about course content. Before the conference group meeting, the conference group leader may need to review course content or conference group materials and ask the instructor for clarification. The conference group leader may also have a reading on learning or teaching to discuss as part of your weekly meeting. Roughly three to four hours per week commitment is expected.
  2. If a conference group leader cannot lead your conference group due to illness, emergency, or a college-sponsored event, they should find another conference group leader to implement their section for that week. If they cannot find someone, consult with the instructor.
  3. Conference group leaders may also review learning activities for the course.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. 

 

The individual is routinely exposed to indoor conditions, minimum outdoor weather and temperature extremes, and moderate noise level.

 

Qualifications/Prerequisites:

 

  1. SKILLS
  1. The worker will have completed CHE207, Organic Chemistry I, and CHE208, Organic Chemistry II, or the equivalent at another college or university, with a grade of at least a B.

 

  1. EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE
  1.  No previous employment experience is required.

 

  1. EDUCATION
  1.  No degree is required.
