Position Summary:

The Student Office Assistant is responsible for general administrative support to the Student Success Center and its staff.  The Student Office Assistant should be available to help with various large and small office projects, should be reliable and committed to maintaining confidentiality when appropriate, and should have a working knowledge of the Student Success Center’s services to Albright students, as well as possessing a general knowledge of College resources and policies. 

Essential Job Functions:

The Student Office Assistant helps with a variety of administrative tasks and serves as a receptionist which includes ensuring the front desk is staffed to receive all phone calls and visitors. Performs the following duties:

  1. Receiving and screening incoming calls with an attention to detail and service excellence, as well as handling correspondence, forms, etc. 
  2. Greeting students and other visitors, answering questions and notifying the appropriate staff member whose assistance is requested.
  3. Assists with email reminders for all students and peer tutoring staff.
  4. Assists with event preparation and projects as needed.
  5. Manages SSC office social media accounts(s).
  6. Maintains SSC office bulletin boards and signage throughout the hallways and lounge.
  7. Hangs promotional and event flyers in academic buildings and common areas.
  8. Makes copies, faxes, and performs campus business errands as assigned.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

The individual is routinely exposed to indoor conditions, minimum outdoor weather and temperature extremes, and moderate noise level.

 

Qualifications/Prerequisites:

 

1.  COMMUNICATION

  1. We expect that student office assistants will have a positive perspective of Albright College.
  2. Good interpersonal and communication skills

 

2.  SKILLS

  1. Organizational skills
  2. Ability to handle multiple tasks

 

All individuals in the student office position should exhibit many of the following:

  2. Receptive to feedback and opportunities to share ideas for improving services
  3. Ability to maintain confidentiality
  4. Ability to work well with office/professional staff, peers, and faculty
  5. Ability to be empathetic to students having difficulties

  7. Highly dependable

 

3.  EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE

  1. Student office assistants are selected on the basis of academic skill, leadership, character, and the ability to communicate well with others.

 

4.  EDUCATION

  1. Overall GPA of at least a 2.7
  2. Good standing with the college

 

5.  LICENSES

     No former licenses are required.
