Position Summary:

Assists in the construction, surface treatment, installation and strike of theatrical scenery; assists in the hang, focus and strike of theatrical lighting; assists in the setup and strike of sound equipment, and related systems, complying with safety standards in the shop and on stage.

 

Essential Job Functions:

Assist in the safe operation and maintenance of theater sound, lighting, rigging, and related equipment and systems used in support of stage productions, lectures, and related events; performs related duties as required.

 

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. 

 

The individual is routinely exposed to indoor conditions, minimum outdoor weather and temperature extremes, and moderate noise level.

 

Work environment can be dusty and loud. Heights will also be involved. Hearing and eye protection will be provided.

 

Qualifications/Prerequisites:

 

  1. SKILLS
    1. Ability to listen in a noisy, sometimes busy environment. Able to project voice over power tools when necessary.
    2. Basic geometry and mathematic skills
    3. Ability to or able to learn to read a tape measure

 

  1. EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE
    1. Prior work as a carpenter or labor would be helpful. Prior experience with heights and painting also useful.

    1. Presently enrolled Albright Student
