Position Summary:

The Student Office Assistant is responsible for general administrative support to the Office of Residential Life. This position provides opportunities to gain useful job skills and grow personally and professionally. The Student Office Assistant helps with a variety of administrative tasks including staffing the front desk, answering phone calls and welcoming visitors. They should be willing to help with various office projects, reliable and committed to maintaining confidentiality. In addition, they should have a working knowledge of residential services to Albright students, as well as possessing a general knowledge of College resources.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Signature of confidentiality agreement
  2. Completion of full training
  3. Commitment to the Office of Residential Life for a minimum of two consecutive hours per week
  4. Greeting students and other visitors, answering questions and notifying the appropriate staff member whose assistance is requested.
  5. Receiving and screening incoming calls with attention to detail and service excellence
  6. Maintain good communication of office operations and student requests with the appropriate staff member whose assistance is requested.
  7. Assists with event preparation and projects as needed.
  8. Makes copies, faxes, and performs campus business errands as assigned.
  9. Helps maintain departmental filing system, office inventory management, and mailboxes
  10. Maintain the cleanliness of the desk and lobby area
  11. Properly sign out keys for those with the permission to do so
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

The individual is routinely exposed to indoor conditions, minimum outdoor weather and temperature extremes, and moderate noise level.

  1. Student office assistants will have a positive perspective of Albright College.

 

  1. SKILLS

The best candidates to be student office assistants are current undergraduate students who are highly dependable, have excellent communication and organizational skills, and enjoy working with others.

 

All individuals in the student office position should exhibit many of the following skills:

  1. Good interpersonal and communication skills
  2. Exercise good judgement and professionalism
  3. Ability to handle multiple tasks
  4. Receptive to feedback and opportunities to share ideas for improving services
  5. Ability to maintain confidentiality
  6. Ability to work well with office/professional staff, peers, and faculty
  7. Ability to be empathetic to students having difficulties
  8. Good overall academic ability

  1. Student office assistants are selected on the basis of academic skill, leadership, character, and the ability to communicate well with others.

  1. Must be a current Albright student.
  2. Must be in good academic and judicial standing with the College.

  1. No former licenses are required.
