Position Summary:

The Admission Office is seeking a highly enthusiastic and motivated student to serve as the campus mascot and mascot handler. Students must display professional manners in order to represent the college and its standards while also adding their own personality and character into the role. This role requires initiative to interact with current students, prospective students, and community members at campus and community sponsored events. It is also required to be able to perform, dance, and be able to do gymnastics to some basic level. Students must be able to use the role to boost morale and engage attendees at a wide variety of events. Hours of work may include day time, night time, and weekend events.

 

Essential Job Functions:

Campus Mascot Lion:

Responsibilities include-

  1. Completion of training
  2. Commitment to the Admission office by signing up for events
  3. Wearing the campus mascot uniform
  4. Engaging crowds during campus and community sponsored events
  5. Signature of a confidentiality agreement and maintaining anonymity while in uniform
  6. Uphold a professional level of decorum

Mascot Handler:

Responsibilities include-

  1. Completion of training
  2. Commitment to the Admission office by signing up for events
  3. Accompanying the Lion to events and ensuring safety of student in costume
  4. Engaging crowds during campus and community sponsored events
  5. Signature of a confidentiality agreement
  6. Uphold a professional level of decorum

 

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. 

 

The individual is routinely exposed to indoor conditions, minimum outdoor weather and temperature extremes, and moderate noise level.

 

Qualifications/Prerequisites:

 

  1. SKILLS
    1. In the suit: while in the suit, the only means of communication will be by body gestures and movement. The mascot cannot speak while in character. Outside of the suit: employees will be expected to effectively communicate their availability and willingness to cover events for Albright College and community-oriented events.
    2. Employees must possess a positive attachment to Albright College and a willingness to represent the college at a variety of different college/local events.
    3. Some level of dance skill and gymnastics is required; in order for the mascot to have spirit it must be able to perform and have the artistic capability of coming up with dances, TikTok routines, and perform alongside cheerleaders

    1. Currently enrolled Albright College student in good standing
