POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
We are seeking an associate counsel to help partner with our Alliant Consumer Group in supporting our acquisition companies!

  Full time, benefits eligible. Hybrid- Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday in office

•   Operating at 37.5 hours full time, schedule: 7:30AM - 4:30PM Monday - Thursday, 7:30-2:00PM Friday

•    Prefer experience in ACA and Medicare

 

SUMMARY 

Responsible for providing support, practical management and guidance to ensure the Company's operations are conducted in compliance with ethical business practices, Company policies and legal/regulatory requirements.  Advise business units and protect the Company's interests in all corporate, legal and regulatory matters.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

•    Assist with drafting and negotiating agreements; Assist with writing, reviewing, editing and advising on lease agreements, carrier contracts, company procedures, general corporate documents and employment matters.

•    Assist with developing, implementing and maintaining a contract management system.

•    Conduct research on legal issues, including employment and labor laws, direct to consumer commerce, web site and marketing material compliance with appropriate federal and state laws; as well as all required filings and approval processes. Assist in acting as a legal consultant for the Company in any legal matters, mediations, arbitrations and hearings.

•    Draft letters, correspondence and documents on behalf of the Company.

•    Assist with training on compliance and legal practices, policies and procedures.

•    Assist with preparing and submitting state and federally-mandated filings.

•    Assist with review of due diligence materials for Company M&A activity

•    Work with General Counsel and/or outside counsel on various legal matters.

•    Work collaboratively with fellow staff to advance the values and mission of Senior Market Sales by serving on relevant internal and external committees; Assists with special projects/assignments as requested by members of management.

•    Perform all duties in accordance with all company policies and procedures, and all federal, state and local laws, wherein the Company operates.

•    Performs other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE  

Juris Doctor from an accredited law school

One (1) or more years experience at a law firm or in a corporate legal department

Insurance industry or related field (financial services or marketing) experience

Licensed to practice law in the State of Nebraska

  

  

SKILLS 

Working knowledge of federal, state and local laws such as drafting contracts and the basics of employment law, as well as industry regulations.

Working knowledge of insurance services industries.

Knowledge of the general industry procedures, practices and terminology.

Knowledge of budgeting and financial management principles and procedures.

Knowledge of systems management.

Knowledge of general office forms, processes and procedures.

Knowledge of program and project management including outcomes, quality assurance, and satisfaction measurement and interpretation.

Knowledge of supervisory techniques to accomplish instruction, motivation and training of personnel.

Skill to supervise, motivate and train.

Skill in working effectively with inbound and outbound callers/customers.

Skill in negotiating and problem solving to resolve internal and external conflicts.

Skill in the use of office equipment including computer, fax, printer, telephone system, etc.

Skill in the use of time management, organizational leadership and supervisory skills.

Skill in maintaining effective working relationships with all customers, employees and the general public.

Skill in project management.

Proficient computer skills (Microsoft/Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, MS Outlook software preferred).

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in a constructive manner.

Skill in the use of time management, organizational leadership and supervisory skills.

Ability to approach and communicate with a wide range of personalities in a professional and courteous manner. Ability to be patient under frustrating circumstances and demonstrate controlled emotional affect in difficult situations.

Ability to engage in effective interpersonal interaction, verbal communication and written communication.

Ability to maintain a high level of organization and attention to detail while remaining flexible and responsive when faced with multiple urgent requests.

Ability to read, write and communicate English effectively.

Ability to maintain all company policies, including all confidentiality and safety policies.

Ability to actively contribute to team effort.

Ability to work independently, exercise independent judgment, make and execute decisions.

Ability to demonstrate organizational leadership qualities and develop and foster trusting relationships.

Strong verbal and written proficiencies of the English language is required.

Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred.
