The Asbury Technician Development Program Manager is responsible for guiding and evolving Asbury’s on-campus technician training program, the Asbury Technical Institute. This individual will be tasked with overseeing the daily operation of the Asbury Technical Institute (ATI), as well as the professional development of selected trainees. In addition to their onsite responsibilities, the ATI Manager will be asked to lead a collaborative recruiting effort with both DEI and Fixed personnel focused on attracting the most technically-inclined talent in the local market.  

 

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and facilitate the ‘Asbury Technical Institute’ curriculum to new and developing ATI apprentices.
  • Adapt and update the ATI curriculum as technologies and best practices evolve.
  • Lead and manage Asbury’s Technical Institute, its daily operations, and those that support it.   
  • Assess program progress and effectiveness to provide regular status updates to stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders across the organization; participate in strategic planning with key stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain program plans, budgets and schedules.
  • Work with service department managers and regional fixed leaders to identify improvement opportunities which will lead to the delivery of proficient technicians.
  • Support service department leaders in the implementation of operational, tactical and cultural initiatives within assigned store locations.
  • Serve as an internal coach and consultant to emerging technicians to support their growth and development.
  • Assist in identifying high potential fixed department personnel for bench building and succession planning.
  • Collaborate with other fixed leaders to further define, establish and maintain fixed processes and standards across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key technical institutions in the metro area to ensure a sustainable recruiting base.
  • Assist in re-launching and guiding the Nalley Technician Guild.
  • Performs other related duties to benefit the mission/vision of the organization.

 

Education & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience as an ASE certified technician is mandatory
  • Tenure as a master certified technician is a plus
  • Familiar with both import and domestic brands
  • Ability to conduct and facilitate the following services; routine maintenance, engine systems, transmissions, suspension and steering, brakes, electrical, heating and air conditioning, as well as shop safety
  • Fully conversant and able to work in all Microsoft Office Programs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
