Peak Adventures, SAVA Internship Youth Camp

Peak Adventures’ purpose is to kindle personal growth, leadership, and connections through experiences in the outdoors.
 

ASI’s Peak Adventures is an outdoor adventure program dedicated to getting Sac State Students outside. Peak Adventures provides guided outdoor trips, low cost gear rentals, full service bike repair at The Bike Shop, summer youth camps and team building at The Challenge Center.

Position Description: (List duties, responsibilities, etc.)

• Safely perform job duties.
• Assist with summer camp equipment maintenance.
• Assist with managing summer camp supply inventory.
• Assist with managing summer camp paperwork.
• Support preparation for summer camp activities, crafts, and trips, including assessing equipment and confirming location information.
• Interns will gain hands-on experience while earning credit towards completing their CTE pathway.
• At the end of 7 weeks, the internship with the SAVA and ASI Peak Adventures will be terminated following California Labor Law practices.  A final evaluation meeting will occur with the intern and their supervisor. 

Qualifications/Requirements (i.e., education, technical skills):

1. Ability to communicate effectively with staff and public.
2. Ability for follow oral and written instructions.
3. Excellent customer service skills.
4. Ability to be flexible and adaptive.
5. Ability to work well with other staff.
6. Ability to learn basic outdoor equipment and operations.
7. Must be able to climb, kneel, squat, reach overhead.
8. Often lift 30-50 pounds assisted.
9. Must be 18 years old or older.
10. Must be a junior or senior enrolled at SAVA and successfully completed a 200-level course in any CTE pathway.
11. Must be recommended by a SAVA teacher on the basis of demonstrated knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors.
12. Must be in good academic standing and maintain expected progress towards graduation.
13. Must successfully pass live scan and background checks required for working with minors.
