IT Infrastructure and Engineering Manager

AVI Systems is looking for an experienced and motivated infrastructure and engineering manager to lead a small team of engineers responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining systems located in our datacenter in Eden Prairie Minnesota, AVI’s 33 US based sales and service offices, Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS. This is a hands-on working manager position that will oversee all projects that the team delivers, as well as contribute to the technical aspects of the solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Microsoft technologies, Linux systems, network infrastructure, IT security, and physical security systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of engineers and provide guidance, feedback, and coaching.
• Plan, prioritize, and execute projects related to infrastructure and engineering, ensuring alignment with business goals and stakeholder expectations.
• Design, implement, and maintain systems located in our datacenter, remote offices, and cloud platforms, using best practices and industry standards.
• Ensure the availability, performance, reliability, and security of the systems, as well as compliance with policies and regulations.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to the systems, and provide support to internal and external customers.
• Collaborate with other teams and vendors to deliver integrated and innovative solutions.
• Research, evaluate, and recommend new technologies and tools to improve the infrastructure and engineering capabilities.
• Prepare and maintain documentation, reports, and budgets related to the systems and projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in infrastructure and engineering, with 2 years of experience in a managerial or leadership role.
• Proficient in Microsoft technologies, such as Windows Server, Active Directory, SQL Server, Exchange, SharePoint, etc.
• Proficient in Linux systems, such as CentOS, Ubuntu, Apache, MySQL, etc.
• Proficient in network infrastructure, such as MPLS, LAN, WAN, VPN, firewall, router, switch, etc.
• Proficient in IT security, such as antivirus, encryption, authentication, backup, disaster recovery, etc.
• Proficient in physical security systems, such as access control, burglar systems, security cameras, etc.
• Proficient in cloud platforms, such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
