Position Summary and Responsibilities:

The purpose of the Team Leader is to guide and lead the production group. The Team Leader provides positive motivation and inspires the team members to always do their best.

  • Assist in the preparation of raw materials according to product specifications.
  • Scan out product from inventory to production daily on a timely basis.
  • Monitor equipment and adjust to ensure quality and standards are maintained.
  • Coordinate work area for start-up, changeovers, and shut down.
  • Maintain product percentages, pick-ups, and yields.
  • Assist in scheduling production and production entries.
  • Execute daily production schedule.
  • Oversee the placement and removal of raw material in and out of equipment.
  • Maintain all work surfaces, tools, and equipment to ensure they are cleaned and sanitized.
  • Maintains a good safe working condition.
  • Knife skills, which could include portioning, trimming and/or prepping raw materials.
  • Plan daily production activities with the production supervisor.
  • Assist on the preparation of daily paperwork.
  • Distribute work assignments or expedite orders to team throughout the day.
  • Assist employees with job duties when needed.
  • Communicate between departments when needed.
  • Open and close daily formula entries
  • Oversee the daily preventative maintenance and lock out tag of equipment.   
  • Train new hires. 
  • Partner with supervisor and FSQA team on product quality issues.
  • Maintain all work surfaces, tools, and equipment clean and sanitized.
  • Always follow the HACCP, SSOP, food and employee safety rules and regulations.   
  • Wear required protective and food safety equipment at all times while in the production area.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to multitask in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Must have basic knowledge of meat.
  • Basis knowledge of various knife usage.
  • Basic computer skills including data entry (10-key by touch and alpha-numeric) skills.
  • Ability to use standard Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to stand on your feet at least 85% of the day and work in a cold (32-40º) environment.
  • Excellent Communication Skills.
  • Problem solving skills.

Computer Skills:                                              

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 80 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand on your feet all day and work in a cold (32-40º) environment.
