Position Overview:

As a Refrigerated Trailer Mechanic aka Reefer Trailer Mechanic, you are responsible for but not limited to diagnosing, repairing and maintaining all refrigerated trailers and various components of our reefer trailers and traditional trailers.  You are responsible for ensuring that all equipment operate efficiently and safely.

 

 Responsibilities:

 

  • Adhering to all safety protocols
  • Conducting regular inspections of refrigerated trailers to identify potential issues
  • Diagnosing problems with refrigeration units, electrical systems and mechanical components
  • Performing routine maintenance including but not limited to lubrication changes, filter replacements and systems checks
  • Repairing or replacing defective components including but not limited to compressors, condensers, evaporators and electrical wiring
  • Ensuring that refrigeration systems are chares with appropriate refrigerant
  • Testing the functionality of refrigeration units after completed maintenance or repairs
  • Calibrating temperature controls to ensure proper temperature settings and efficiency
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and company policies
  • Willingness to continued education and training opportunities
  • Communicating effectively with vehicle operators regarding maintenance needs and repairs
  • Providing detailed reports on the work performed, parts used, time spent and any additional required actions
  • Working as a team; assisting other mechanics
  • Flexibility to work various or additional shifts, as needed including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership

Experience:

  • Preferred: One (1) + years experience as a Trailer/Reefer mechanic or related field
  • Preferred: 608 & 609 EPA Certification – with base understanding of mechanical principles or willingness to obtain
  • Preferred but not required: Valid Driver’s License & CDL-A

 

Schedule:

  • 3x12hrs Friday - Sunday
  • 4x10hrs one weekend day required
  • 5x8hrs one weekend day required

 

Environment:

  • Work environment will vary with temperatures
  • $400 annual tool allowance

 

Skills:

  • Physical abilities: May be required to lift up to 80-85lbs.; standing, bending, lifting and twisting for up to 90% of your shift; frequently lifting product from various heights including floor level to over your head; Ability to stand or walk at least 10 hours daily; working in various temperature controlled environments; the ability to operate required material handling equipment – getting on and off equipment throughout shift
  • Strong communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers and leaders on a daily basis
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to fulfill customer orders in a timely manner; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Working in a team based environment: Working independently and as a team player to ensure completion of all work assignments
  • Quality: Maintain integrity and high standards of product handling from all perspectives
