VGS is seeking a Telecommunications Installer Repairer
General Duties:
- Responsible for designing, delivering and maintaining solutions for both secure and non-secure voice systems. This includes both existing systems as well as new installations. The voice systems will vary in size, location, network configuration, and functionality.
- Engineer, furnish, install, and maintenance of legacy Private Branch Exchange (PBX) systems, Hybrid Voice over Internet ProtocolTime Division Multiplex (VoIPTDM) systems, VoIP Systems, Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) systems, Intelligent Call Routing Systems, call center specific systems, and Interactive Voice Response (IVR) Systems.
- Work with leased voice solutions from telecommunications carriers and may include, planning Voice networks (VOIP), designing infrastructure, as well as engineering, installing, testing, and maintaining these communication infrastructures.
- Ability to use a wide range of telecommunication, network and computer techniques, requirements, methods, sources and procedures, from the federal, DoD, and commercial sectors.
- In-depth knowledge of industry practices in telecommunication architecture design and components configuration management, optimization and applications. Serve as a technician in the area of telecommunication such that he/she can manage, maintain, and provide technical advice on telecommunications systems, plan network installations by studying technical specifications, and prepare an installation schematic.
- Identify users’ needs and requirements and mobilize existing technology to meet their criteria. Establishes voice and data networks by programming features; establishing interfaces and integrations; following industry standards; activating remote access tools.
- Verify service by testing and troubleshooting circuits, equipment, and alarms; identifying and correcting problems; conferring with engineers and/or vendors.
- Document network by recording configuration diagrams and programming.
- Maintain network by troubleshooting and repairing outages; monitor and test systems and peripheral equipment and troubleshoot problems; updating network diagrams and documentation.
- Maintain customer rapport by listening to and resolving concerns; answering questions. Maintains a safe work environment by following standards and policies.
- Deploy and support centralized voice clustering solutions where the endpoints/phones are distributed in multiple locations within a region to include presence solutions with Jabber rollout to clients.
- Provide efficient and reliable mobile communication and user support.
- Conduct user software and hardware training on telecommunications products such as Cisco VOIP phones, Cisco Jabber Client and web conferencing.
- Analyze, isolate and resolve customer issues. Direct interaction with customers on Tier 2 support issues.
- Establish and maintain an accurate inventory of all telecommunications equipment, supplies and spare components.
- Prepare, build and deploy profiles, templates, and phones using Cisco Unified Communications (CUC) automated tools.
Requirements:
- DoD Secret Clearance
- Bachelor Degree
- 4+ years of relevant experience, preferably in a DoD environment.
- Ability to manage time well to meet assigned milestones
