PURPOSE:

The Production Shift Lead position works closely with the Production Supervisor in leading the production team in all phases of the manufacturing process and maintaining safety and quality standards within the area. This position will act as an extension of the Production Supervisor outside of corrective action and managing employee performance.

 

KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Helps train new team members
  • Organizes and audits work area or cleanliness
  • Maintains all safety standards including adherence with PPE requirements
  • Responsible for quality spot checks ensure compliance
  • Runs shift meeting, safety huddles and reports production metrics as needed
  • Operates the blending, manufacturing or packaging equipment as needed
  • Verifies work orders, blend sheets, packaging materials and finished goods
  • Moves/pulls packaging material and finished good product using hand truck, forklift or other material handling equipment, in accordance with all safety policies.
  • Assist with general counting of components for returns to inventory
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and audits
  • Communicate issues or concerns with managers & supervisors in real time
  • Additional duties as assigned

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years’ experience in manufacturing or packaging
  • Must be able to work any shift and overtime as needed
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job including physical lifting of up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to score satisfactory on pre-employment assessment
  • Basic computer literacy (MS Office)
  • Forklift and/or reach truck certification

  • Prior forklift experience a plus
