ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In Home and Community Supports is a service to assist individuals in learning or maintaining adaptive skills necessary to reside successfully in the home and community. Services are directed towards the individuals interests and needs. In-Home Supports include assistance with cleaning, cooking, personal hygiene skills, and many other related skills that enhance independence. Community Integration activities help develop social skills in the community and fosters real relationships. Staff will also support individuals to attend social events, teach how to safely use public transportation and introduce them to new activities.
 
Brief Outline of Duties:
1. Ability to work in a variety of environments, ambulate throughout assigned individual's
home, navigating stairs and other physical barriers typical to private residences.
2. Lift, carry, or transfer assigned individual with assistance (2 person transfers)
3. Assist individual during meals (this includes feeding for those who require the assistance
to eat)
4. Assist individuals in the restroom according to their individual needs
5. Assist individuals to explore opportunities in the community. The goal is to increase
socialization, community involvement, and community safety awareness
6. Enter progress notes daily on each individual you worked with
7. Provide physical assistance as needed during personal care, program activities, and
during community activities
8. Implement activities identified in the ISP and by Program Director
9. Complete 24 hours of training annually including CPR, First Aid, Everyday Lives,
Individual Service Plans, and all trainings required by the 6100 regulations
10. Follow all behavior plans as written
11. Develop and implement program activities based on individuals interests and abilities
12. Assist and support all training of back up staff members
13. Role model appropriate social skills
14. Develop professional rapport with all individuals in program
15. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director
 
Qualifications and Education Requirements
1. High School Diploma (or GED).
2. A minimum of 1 year of experience with adults with Autism/ Intellectual disabilities
3. Able to maintain confidentiality and privacy of all consumer records and information.
4. Able to work well with individuals with varying emotional and cognitive challenges
5. Able to successfully manage multiple tasks and priorities.
6. Ability to work in a variety of environments, ambulate throughout a patient's home, navigating stairs and other physical barriers typical to private residences. 
7. Driver's License (Preferred)
 
WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE (IF APPLICABLE)
Must have an acceptable PA criminal history, FBI clearance and Child Abuse clearance done prior to hire.

Yes. Required to travel in the community if the assigned individual requests community trips.
