JOB SUMMARY:

The Staff Attorney is a dynamic and motivated individual that serves as an integral part of our legal team. This role will report directly to the General Counsel and provide legal and regulatory analysis to ensure compliance with laws, rules, regulations, and industry standards.  This individual has a keen interest in legislative and regulatory affairs, strong legal research and writing skills and an excellent ability to identify, analyze, and communicate complex legal scenarios to management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct thorough research on laws, rules, regulations, and industry standards relevant to the company’s operations.  Provide legal advice to management in a broad range of legal matters including but not limited to insurance law, regulatory law, government health programs, employment law and corporate law
  • Analyze legal issues and provide concise summaries and recommendations to General Counsel and management.
  • Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and updates, proactively identify potential compliance risks and communicate such risks to management of the appropriate operational areas of the company.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents such as powers of attorney, guardianships, HIPAA authorizations and Authorized under the guidance of General Counsel and management. Ensure that contractual agreements comply with relevant laws, rules, regulations and company policies.
  • Assist in assessing legal and regulatory risks associated with business activities and proposed initiatives. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Provide training and educational resources to internal stakeholders on legal and regulatory compliance matters. Keep colleagues informed of changes in laws and regulations that may impact their roles and responsibilities.
  • Assist in managing subrogation cases and other litigation matters, including conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and liaising with external counsel if needed. Support efforts to resolve disputes in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of legal documents, correspondence, and regulatory filings. Ensure compliance with document retention policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong understanding of legal principles, contracts, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD)
  • Admission to the Oklahoma Bar.
  • 1-3 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in a corporate in-house or law firm environment.
