Ministry:  Newcomers - MRS

Primary Office: Manassas Monday through Friday

Hours per Week: 40 non-exempt

Starting Hourly Rate: $24.14

Staff Supervisor: Site Supervisor 

Telework Available:Hybrid 1 day after 90 days of training.

 

 

Position Description:

The Case Manager I Mental Health of the Catholic Charities Diocese of Arlington (CCDA), Migration and Refugee Services (MRS), assists refugees with mental health needs and behavioral health education under the Refugee Health Education and Outreach Program (RHEO). This role collaborates with the refugee services team, and other staff to provide education & outreach to address the mental health and wellbeing of refugees.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and collaborates with the refugee services team to develop and implement intervention plans tailored to metal health needs of refugees.
  • Assist in the planning, organization, planning, and delivery of workshops and training sessions designed to address the unique challenges faced by refugees.
  • Support workshop participants by providing individualized guidance, addressing questions, and connecting them with appropriate resources or follow-up services as needed.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with external agencies, community organizations, and emergency service providers to facilitate timely referrals and access to support services.
  • Prepare reports and accurate data on mental health workshops, crisis response activities, including statistical data, case summaries, and program outcomes, as required.
  • Contribute to program evaluation and quality improvement efforts by providing insights, feedback, and recommendations based on crisis response experiences.

 

 

Other Duties:

  • Willing to accompany case manager to client home visits as needed
  • Follow up with clients to ensure successful implementation of intervention plans and provide support as needed.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the availability of necessary resources.
  • Conduct assessments to understand needs and vulnerabilities of refugees from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Flexibility to work varying hours preferred

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Bilingual in English and one other language spoken by clients required: Dari, Pashtu, Arabic, Amharic preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word Office Products

 

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors in social work or related field preferred
  •  2 years of experience, including internships, in trauma support, case management, nonprofit experience
  • Knowledge of, and commitment to, refugee services and workforce development.
  • 2 years’ experience, including internships, in child welfare, domestic violence, family therapy, trauma informed therapy, and social service provision
  • Fluency in social services policies and practices in counties and localities where clients are resettling.

 

 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard. Specific vision requirements due to computer work and driving a motor vehicle. Light to moderate lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required.
