The Assistant Director/Manager of Donor Engagement manages and implement all aspects of a robust engagement and solicitation strategy for constituents actively giving—or with the potential to give—$1,000 or less annually. Developed in collaboration with the Executive Director of Advancement Operations, this strategy will include annual bulk appeals, giving days, and some segment-based engagement efforts (e.g. Giving Tuesday, CYE Appeal, Senior Class Gift, Alumni Reunion Giving, etc.). The Assistant Director/Manager also plays a key role in the constituent “moves management” process, supporting creative and impactful donor recognition and stewardship efforts.  In addition, this role will partner with the Executive Director of Development in the qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of a mid-sized portfolio of donors according to established performance standards and metrics.  

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION: 

FUNDRAISING AND ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM MANAGEMENT (75%)  

  • Create, implement, and evaluate comprehensive annual and multi-year plans that engage acquires new donors, retains current donors, and renews past donors with an intent to increase both engagement and financial support according to set metrics. 
  • Formulate and execute strategies for the effective use of a variety of outreach and communication methods and solicitation channels including direct mailing, crowdfunding, text messaging, telemarketing, and social media; investigate and adopt new methods and channels for engagement. 
  • Lead planning and collaboration across the Advancement Division to ensure the success of annual bulk appeals and giving days (Giving Tuesday, Calendar Year End Appeal, Senior Class Gift, Reunion Giving, etc.), including writing content and providing direction for visual identity of programs.  
  • Retrieve and interpret relevant data to determine strategic constituent segments and inform accompanying engagement and solicitation strategies. Stay current on best-practices related to internal and external reporting to drive decision making.  
  • Collaboratively devise and implement clear stewardship processes and activities,  
  • Manage a re-envisioned Student Phonathon program, deploying a team of students to make meaningful connections with donors that will lead to increased engagement and giving.  

 

RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT (25%) with Executive Director of Development  

  • Manage relationships with an assigned portfolio of donors under $1000 annually.  
  • Responsible for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding each relationship according to established performance metrics, which includes total number contacts and visits in a fiscal year.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  
  • 2+ years of demonstrated success in the fields of communication, marketing, relationship management, and/or fundraising.  
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal relationship skills. 
  • Proficient in a variety of software including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, and productivity tools. Familiarity with customer relationship management software (CRM) and data-analysis/reporting tools preferred.  
  • Ability to think strategically and translate qualitative and quantitative data into actionable and achievable strategic planning.  
  • Capacity to synthesize and manage multiple complex tasks and projects simultaneously.
