The Cedarville University Centennial Library seeks a qualified candidate to serve as a Biblical and Theological Studies Librarian. This position is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track faculty position in the University’s Centennial Library reporting to the Director of Library Public Services. The Biblical and Theological Studies Librarian will contribute to the development and delivery of library instruction services, research and information services, and individual research assistance, with special focus on undergraduate and graduate students and faculty in the School of Biblical and Theological Studies. 

Position Description:

The Biblical and Theological Studies Librarian will provide expert and innovative research support to students and faculty in biblical studies programs and will work with faculty to deliver an effective information literacy instruction strategy.  This librarian will also support all undergraduate students who are enrolled in the Bible minor. Working collaboratively as part of the library’s research team, the Biblical and Theological Studies Librarian will help deliver research support services to all students and will assist with the effective implementation of innovative library technology, online tools, and digital services.

The successful candidate will possess an ALA-accredited Master of Library Science degree and library experience, preferably academic library experience.  The candidate needs to be an excellent classroom communicator, conversant with relevant research methodologies, familiar with biblical and theological studies disciplines and information resources, and able to engage in proactive, creative outreach.

This position is subject to the University's verification of credentials along with other information required by law and Cedarville University policies, including the successful completion of a background check. Position Requirements:

  • ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library Science or a degree in Biblical or Theological studies is required (both preferred)
  • A graduate degree in Biblical or Theological studies is preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years reference and instructional or related experience in 1) an academic or public library, or 2) a seminary/university academic department is preferred
  • Experience with online learning environments and graduate level education
  • Experience delivering effective presentations or classroom instruction to groups
  • Excellent classroom teaching skills
  • Strong service orientation
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of research strategies and teaching methodologies
  • Familiarity with biblical studies research tools, research methods, and information resources
  • Familiarity with digital library resources and web-based library applications
  • Strong focus on collaborative teamwork and demonstrated success in working with teams
  • Strong organizational, written/oral communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to speak to a group of students or faculty for the length of an entire class period
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Able to do moderate lifting of boxes and materials
  • Able to review/evaluate materials visually and aurally
