Cedarville University Centennial Library seeks a Digital Services Assistant to carry out operational tasks within the Digital Commons, the online repository of the scholarship, creative works, and historical record of Cedarville University. This position is a 12-month, 20 hour/week (1040 annual hours), non-exempt staff position that reports to the Digital Commons Director.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the addition of all forms of media to the repository
  • Provide design support services, in concert with digital services templates, for the repository website
  • Assist in the creation of nonprint digital content, e.g., image and audio artifacts
  • Utilize appropriate html coding for the website
  • Provide copyright clearance services for items added to the repository
  • Assist in the planning, design, and execution of projects undertaken by the Digital Services team
  • Provide instruction and guidance to student staff assisting with Digital Services projects
  • Manage, monitor, and control end-to-end digital projects
  • Ensure digital assets meet the individual requirements of each collection

Position Requirements:

  • Two years of college and/or library experience; college degree preferred
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Google Office Suites, and Adobe Photoshop preferred
  • Graphic design and artistic abilities
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Work ethic that emphasizes accuracy, detail, decisiveness, and self-motivation
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Moderate lifting and movement of boxes and materials
  • Strong service orientation
  • Ability to work and complete tasks independently, collaboratively, and collegially
  • Ability to adjust computer and printing equipment for visual quality
  • Qualified applicant must be a born-again Christian with a personal commitment to Jesus Christ
