About This Opportunity

We are seeking a Sr Energy Management Consultant (Sr Strategic Energy Management SEM Coach)

The Sr SEM Coach is responsible for leading new SEM efforts for our utility and industrial clients. This is a project management role that is centered around a high level of customer engagement that deepens relationships and expands work from new and key clients. This role will also navigate complex issues and provide resolution. This Senior SEM Coach delivers training and services to clients while leading large, high stake and multi-faceted projects. This includes continuous improvement of SEM, energy information and its’ processes. From being subject matter expert, to key contributor to RFP’s, to working closely with clients to propose, design, deliver and continuously improve our SEM efforts, this role also maintains expert knowledge of our Gazebo software and collaborates with our software team to enhance existing energy information systems.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Communicating and collaborating. Frequent communication with the Cascade internal team, SEM participants, and utility clients. Good communication skills are a must, and candidates must be willing, able, and enthusiastic about participating in our processes to perform well in this role and to grow Cascade SEM skills.
  • Managing key client relationships.
  • Working directly with clients at their locations to fully understand their equipment and operations.
  • Facilitating energy management assessments. Engaging with clients to review and understand energy performance results, including outputs from energy intensity models.
  • Delivering professional cohort training to clients, and track and report on results. Leading workshops and treasure hunts.
  • Working with our Demand Side Management (DSM) program clients to propose, design, deliver, and continuously improve our SEM efforts targeted at industrial clients. Delivering both one-on-one and group cohorts to industrial clients, including refrigerator operator coaching, wastewater cohorts, and small industrial SEM (e.g. webinars, online SEM, etc.)
  • Acting as the subject matter expert on the SEM team and providing mentoring to other members. Leading the continuous improvement our SEM process, and introducing new SEM elements to our other work, such as facility tune-up work
  • Partnering with our Gazebo software team to build SEM elements into our existing Energy Information and Energy Management systems.
  • Acting as the subject matter expert and proposal lead for SEM business development
  • Utilizing expert knowledge and understanding of the role and motivations of DSM clients. Involvement in the “R&D” aspects of SEM program design and implementation.
  • Engaging with DSM managers and applying strong customer engagement skills. Gaining trust and staying abreast of status.

This is a full-time position located in Southern California. Flexibility in hours is available with the expectation the employee must be available during normal business hours. Occasionally, additional efforts may be needed to meet the demands of clients.

Travel is expected approximately 10% of the time for this role. Most travel will be day trips Initially, with an occasional overnight trip as necessary.

 

 

Qualifications

Applicants for this role are required to have:

  • A.A/B.S/B.A degree in business, engineering or other applicable field, or, equivalent combination of education and relative experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in SEM or relevant field
  • Management of continuous improvement within the framework of Lean, Six Sigma or ISO 5000.
  • Hands-on experience in an industrial setting or with industrial clients.
  • Previous experience with project management, management coaching and consulting

 

A successful candidate should also demonstrate these preferred characteristics and/or skills:

  • Master’s degree is a plus

Compensation & Benefits

Our total rewards include competitive pay and excellent benefits. These include health (90% paid for team member, 70% paid for dependents on HDHP plans and 85% paid for team member, 65% paid for dependents on PPO plans),  vision, FSA or HSA options with an employer contribution, life insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, paid parental leave, 401k retirement plan with a guaranteed 3% contribution, Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP), annual cash performance bonus, paid vacation, sick time, and an inclusive, flexible paid holiday policy. New for 2024 – we are excited to add an additional wellbeing contribution of $500 for HSA, FSA, or LSA (Lifestyle Spending Account).

 

The salary range for this position in Los Angeles/San Diego is $116,000 - $141,700. However, final salary offered may vary depending on non-discriminatory factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experiences, and geographical location if different than the above.
