About This Opportunity

We are seeking a Project Engineer II (PE II) for the Chicago area.  The Engineer II works directly with our clients to assess their operations and identify opportunities for maximizing energy efficiency and performance in industrial systems.  The PEII takes a consultative role, gathers data, creates optimization models of industrial systems, and writes feasibility reports for energy efficiency projects, while leading overall management of projects.  The PEII contributes to peer support and quality control review.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Leading projects and providing overall management, direction, and accountability on assigned projects
  • Calculating energy savings for various system or equipment changes using existing calculation tools, original spreadsheets, and/or generally accepted methodologies
  • Engaging with clients at their industrial locations to fully understand their equipment and operations and identifying opportunities for energy efficiency
  • Fostering and growing client relationships and identifying opportunities for generating additional work from current clients
  • Discussing or explaining complex technical issues with a diverse audience on their level in a way that facilitates understanding and consensus
  • Composing energy efficiency project reports based on analyses and observations
  • Documenting performance through data collection from customer sources or via installed data logging equipment
  • Maintaining a solid understanding of utility programs and their compliance requirements
  • Providing peer support through technical discussions and work review

 

This is a full-time, exempt position to be located in or near our Park Ridge IL office.  Estimated travel is at 10% - 20% for local site visits.

Qualifications

Applicants for this role are required to have:

  • Bachelor's Degree, or higher, in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or a related field of study
  • 1-5 years of engineering experience
  • Technical knowledge of refrigeration, compressed air systems, steam systems, customer computer modeling of systems, electrical distribution system design, industrial control and data-logging of system results

  • Critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making capabilities demonstrated by educational or professional experiences
  • Strong project management and organization skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to comfortably interact with internal and external customers and stakeholders to serve their needs
  • Proactive, resourceful, and highly  motivated to achieve project results

Compensation & Benefits

Our total rewards include competitive pay and excellent benefits. These include health (90% paid for team member, 70% paid for dependents on HDHP plans and 85% paid for team member, 65% paid for dependents on PPO plans),  vision, FSA or HSA options with an employer contribution, life insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, paid parental leave, 401k retirement plan with a guaranteed 3% contribution, Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP), annual cash performance bonus, paid vacation, sick time, and an inclusive, flexible paid holiday policy. New for 2024 – we are excited to add an additional wellbeing contribution of $500 for HSA, FSA, or LSA (Lifestyle Spending Account).

 

The salary range for this position in Park Ridge, Illinois is $91,570 - $111,900. However, final salary offered may vary depending on non-discriminatory factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experiences, and geographical location if different than the above.
