How You Will Make an Impact

  • Manages Property Claims teams in all regions to achieve established claims objectives in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Directly leads a team of Claims Managers to develop and mentor staff to deliver exceptional hospitality, achieve technical excellence and manage inventory efficiently
  • Completes technical file reviews and measure the team’s adherence to Claims best practices and technical claims training; use insights gleaned from the file review process for coaching Claims supervisors in the region
  • Cultivates effective relationships with line of business Directors, peers and other departments to achieve the overall business objectives and to continuously improve Central’s Claims operations
  • Develops robust feedback loops with Underwriting and Loss Control within the region; participate in quarterly (and ad hoc) meetings; works closely with line of business Directors to prepare comprehensive agendas
  • Ensures reserve and payment accuracy; provide reserve and payment authority up to a certain threshold; develop and maintain appropriate control mechanisms
  • Responsible for the ongoing management of staff by attracting talent, setting clear direction, providing appropriate guidance, managing performance, recognizing contributions and developing capabilities
  • Effectively communicates strategy and priorities, sets expectations, holds team accountable, and gets results
  • Works appropriately across departments and across offices to deliver Claims strategy and accomplish corporate objectives and priorities
  • Manages resources appropriately – staffing, workloads, budget
  • Meets budget, makes assigned agency visits, and assists with appointment process

 

What You Will Bring

  • Master’s degree in or related field and 4 years of claims handling experience in the Insurance industry including 1 year of management experience
  • Or Bachelor’s degree in or related field and 6 years of claims handling experience in the Insurance industry including 1 year of management experience
  • Or 8 years of claims handling experience in the Insurance industry including 1 year of management experience
  • Available for overnight travel as required
  • Demonstrated expertise in investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and settling of property claims; Knowledge of property claim handling
  • Demonstrated staff management experience
  • Strong oral and written communication, strong group presentation, and ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong problem solving/analytical skills
  • Proven strategic thought leadership and decision-making skills
  • Ability to identify and capitalize on continuous improvement ideas
  • Technical and business management acumen; advanced claims investigations and resolution skills; advanced knowledge of insurance and claims handling principles, practices and procedures
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and teams
  • Knowledge of claims, loss control, underwriting and premium audit disciplines
  • Good understanding of Central Insurance’s policies and processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPCU, SCLA or AIC designations
  • Claims leadership experience in both Personal Lines and Commercial Lines
