Location: Van Wert or Dublin, OH. Remote option if credentialed.

As a Personal Lines Pricing Actuary, you’ll have the opportunity to join an exciting team that is focused on helping continue Central’s commitment to excellence by applying your knowledge and experience to the exciting problems faced by our Personal Lines Pricing department. Applying your expertise to help transform and improve our auto, home and other miscellaneous personal lines challenges will allow you the opportunity to grow and develop yourself and our team’s operations.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Prepare rate level indications and communicate the results to Home Office and Regional personnel with minimal supervision
  • Prepare analyses of statistical experience and communicate the results to Home Office and Regional personnel with minimal supervision
  • Prepare actuarial portions of rate filings, including drafting responses to questions raised by the various insurance departments
  • Complete pricing and rate analysis as needed
  • Complete peer review as well as review of Sr. Analyst/Analyst work to ensure quality of work products
  • Train others on Actuarial tasks
  • Ownership of ad hoc as requested by the business
  • Ownership of any special projects as assigned
  • Independently write code to manipulate and query data
  • Assist with Rate Committee, including presenting actuarial pricing information, evaluating rate proposals, and advising on the impacts of actions being proposed
  • Monitor Actuarial Department communications for opportunities to collaborate and drive consistency in actuarial work products
  • Lead the continuous improvement of Actuarial processes and procedures based on industry trends and best practices in collaboration with the Research and Development Actuarial team
  • Support the preparation of communication with Central leadership, as well as external stakeholders and vendors

What You’ll Bring

  • ACAS/FCAS Designation
  • Master’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial science, Statistics, Analytics and 2 years of experience in an actuarial position or insurance pricing
    • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial science, Statistics, Analytics and 4 years of experience in an actuarial position or insurance pricing
    • Or 6 years of experience in in an actuarial position or insurance pricing
  • Possesses analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong math skills
  • Possesses multi-tasking and prioritization skills
  • Ability to understand Central Insurance’s policies and processes
  • Possesses excellent communication and presentation skills 

Preferred

  • Strong skills with programming languages such as Python, SQL, R, SAS and VBA
