Location: Dublin, OH or Van Wert- Hybrid work model 

We are looking for an experienced UI/UX Designer who is passionate about user experiences and can contribute on a variety of projects. As a UI/UX Designer, you will be envisioning, designing and building the next generation of impactful digital product and service experiences for our employees, agents, and policyholders. Working alongside our Product Team and Product Leaders, you will leverage research to design digital interactions and experiences focusing on usability, function, and accessibility while creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that convey our brand image and delight our users.

With your knowledge and expertise, you will serve as a driving creative force, making decisive contributions, helping us grow and design new solutions and offerings for our users.  

How You’ll Make an Impact

Market Discovery

  • User focused research: Lead research for quantitative or qualitative user research projects. Documents various user experiences through detailed journey maps and other research artifacts.
  • Internal opportunities: Proactively identify research gaps and needs. Conduct internal research as needed. 
  • Market research: Research designs for competitive and noncompetitive solutions to find weaknesses and inspiration. May participate in insurance market research activities as needed as an observer. 

Strategic Planning

  • Actively advocate for users during roadmap planning to ensure Product Management and Development create acceptable user experiences. Understand the most important moments for users and development costs for different user experiences and use this knowledge to selectively highlight the need for improved user experiences.
  • Identifies the right UX artifacts to create based on project needs and timeline

Definition and Viability

Design

  • Information architecture:  Organize content and navigation effectively on an application level (e.g., sitemap) and screen level (e.g., wireframe).
  • Wireframing and prototyping: Organize content and navigation effectively on a screen and application level by building wireframes and high-fidelity interactive prototypes. Use correct interaction paradigms and explain reason why. Pair with more senior designers for review and iterative improvements.
  • Design System: Understand and utilize the design system. Surface gaps in the design system.
  • Visual Design: Work independently to create effective and consistent designs that accurately reflect the brand and adhere to usability and accessibility guidelines. Design work is consistent, requiring only minor adjustments and critique.

Validation

  • Opportunity testing: Assist with opportunity testing as needed. 
  • Concept Testing: Work with Product Managers to conduct usability tests on information architecture, designs, and prototypes. Capture and share results with recommendations.
  • Initiative Playbacks: Attend and contribute to Product Management walk throughs and provide feedback.
  • Design Playbacks: Facilitate and lead Design Playbacks. Present design solutions (i.e. user flows, wireframes, prototypes) to small and mid-size groups of people. Document feedback, observations, and action items. Attend Product and Research walk throughs related to assigned work and/or domain.

Sense and Respond

  • Product outcomes: Implement and leverage clickstream data in product analytic and digital adoption tools (Google Analytics, Userpilot) to understand product usage, adoption, and struggles. Make suggestions for product improvements based on adoption and usage metrics. Identify missed KPIs and suggest possible reasons and potential improvements.

What You’ll Bring

  • Master’s degree in Visual Design, Human-computer Interaction or related field
    • Or Bachelor’s degree Visual Design, Human-computer Interaction, or related field and 2 years direct experience in UX Design
    • Or 4 years direct experience in UX Design
  • Strong proficiency with design and/or prototyping tools: Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Mural (or similar)
  • Knowledge of user interface and information design principles
  • Strong visual design skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Experience working in Agile environment
  • Experience acting as an advocate for customers, providing design solutions based in user-centered design, user research, and product analytics
  • Working knowledge or proven ability to use product analytics and digital adoption tools (e.g.: Google Analytics, Hotjar, Mixpanel, Userpilot)
  • Working knowledge or proven ability to use the following technologies:
    • HTML5, CSS, jQuery and JavaScript
    • JavaScript frameworks (e.g.: React, Node.js, JQuery, Angular, Vue, etc.)
    • Bootsrap or other CSS libraries
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, detail-oriented, and curious
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to proactively approach issues with problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Possesses verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and influence skills
  • Possesses multi-tasking and prioritization skills

Preferred

  • Experience designing interactions for web and mobile
  • Demonstrated work experience creating great user-centered design solutions
