The Child Center Residential Treatment Facility (RTF) is a coeducational program in a warm, supportive environment that serves young people ages 12-18 who have had multiple psychiatric hospital placements or have been involved with the juvenile justice system. It is the only downstate RTF in the state that is a dual NYS Office of Mental Health/Office of Children and Family Services facility. We never consider it too late to give young people the help they need, and we are pleased to partner with these two agencies to ensure the young people in our care have the skills and support they need to achieve long-term success.

This role is within a Gated Facility and parking spot is provided.

Reflecting The Child Center’s dedication to comprehensive care, the RTF is staffed by clinical coordinators, psychiatric providers, a pediatrician, and 24-hour nursing staff, 24 hour youth advocates. Supports are individualized and tailored to the needs of the young people.

In this role you will:

  • Scheduling nursing staff with Director oversight
  • Backup supervisor to Director
  • Collaborate regarding Medical policies, procedures and protocols
  • Coordination & Implementation of medical staff training in cooperation with the Director and the Training Coordinator
  • Oversight of RN’s tasks and responsibilities
  • Assisting the Director with hiring and onboarding process of new employees
  • Scheduling of RN staff and continuous assessment and on-hands support to the nursing staff
  • Provide direct nursing support when needed including RN call-outs, multiple support calls, break coverage, task assistance, and pediatric service days
  • Attending Meet & Greets and Teams to Teams for potential residents, attend residents’ CTPs (treatment team meetings)
  • Responsible for quality assurance regarding health services & compliance with all medical appointments as per IOC and OMH regulations
  • Provide direct nursing support when needed in times need including RN call-outs, multiple support calls, break coverage, and pediatric service days
  • Coordination of all phases of medical treatment, including treatment ordered by staff physicians, and outside medical providers including clinics and hospitals
  • Oversight of appointment schedule and invitations to families in this regard
  • Ensure Appointment Tracker is complete – all appointments confirmed, and all guardians notified
  • Primary point person for families regarding youth routine and emergency medical needs
  • Coordination of all phases of care with all disciplines, including pre-admission and post-discharge (also preparing admission and discharge paperwork)
  • Oversight and responsibility of inventory and ordering for all necessary medical supplies including PPE, exam supplies, vaccines, etc.
  • Running educational groups for residents with help of staff nurse
  • Look into medical offices that take Medicaid and keep and updated list
  • Coordination of health and medical education to staff ie. Food logs, diabetes, etc.
  • Oversight of Records maintenance according to agency policy
  • Organize and ensure medical calendar and health tracker documents are up to date 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have 3-5 years of experience supervising RNs 
  • 2 years of experience working within a Residential setting or Psychiatric/MH Clinic
  • a valid NYS RN License
