The Expediting & Outbound Manager is chiefly responsible for the efficient day-to-day operation of the warehouse with emphasis on supervision of distribution Team Members and Temporary Personnel in Expediting and Outbound areas. Other areas can be added as the business continues to expand. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Operations Manager & Director of Operations to ensure proper time management as well as coordinate daily scheduling and planning of Team Members and Temporary Personnel
  • Investigate and troubleshoot shipping situations that require detailed attention and root-cause analysis to problem solve.
  • Lead and give direction of 40 plus warehouse personnel
  • Evaluate and assign daily workload
  • Validate that team leaders, Team Members and Temporary Personnel have the proper tools to complete their assigned tasks
  • Frequently monitor the daily progress of the assign areas
  • Gives feedback to directs, based on attendance, performance, accuracy, and safety
  • Confirm that all scheduled outbound orders accurately and efficiently processed
  • Knowledge of distribution processes
  • Communicates with Carriers on any issues with Outbound shipments
  • Communicates with Customer Service on any issues with Outbound shipments
  • Ensures the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the warehouse to meet OSHA and company standards
  • Manages all areas assigned, to ensure all functions are carried out accurately and efficiently
  • Assist in the creation of standard operating procedures for assign area
  • Validate procedures and processes are being followed
  • Will be required to write and administer performance reviews
  • Will be required to write and administer coaching sessions and warnings
  • Maintain PIT through maintenance schedule
  • Train Team Members and Temporary Personnel in the various roles
  • Assists in developing processes to train and motivate Team Members and Temporary Personnel for increased effectiveness
  • Makes recommendations to the Operations Manager and Director of Operations on programs to improve warehouse operations
  • Match the skill and background of Team Members and Temporary Personnel to their work assignments
  • Champions safety and best practices daily

 

Requirements: 

  • Minimum 5+ years of full-time experience in a manufacturing/warehouse/distribution center. Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is accepted
  • Self-motivated leader with natural problem-solving abilities and a positive mindset
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • At ease presenting information to all levels of the organization
  • Authentic and relationship-based; builds rapport easily and gains trust naturally
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English required, Spanish fluency a plus
  • Working knowledge of warehouse / mechanical equipment
  • Experience in strong leadership and motivational and analytical skills
  • Must always be observant and proactive when it comes to issues related to workplace safety
  • Must be willing and able to work as part of a team or even lead a team if the need arises
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced, high volume distribution environment
  • Ability to solve problems and use proper judgement, based on the needs of the business
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to details and the ability to multi-task
  • Excellent communication skills; both written and spoken
  • Ability to operate calmly under stress, while driving improvement
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and Microsoft Office
