As a Human Resources Manager at Visual Comfort & Co., you will play a pivotal role in cultivating a positive work environment through effective employee relations, engagement strategies, and performance management. You will collaborate closely with leadership and department heads to ensure our team members are motivated, productive, and aligned with company goals and mission. The HR Manager will lead a team consisting of an HR Business Partner and an HR Coordinator. 

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

Employee Relations:

  • Provides support and guidance to management and other team members when complex, specialized and sensitive questions and issues arise; reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing and performance issues.
  • Works with leadership on managing employee disciplinary meetings, written documentation and investigations.
  • Develop and implement proactive strategies to promote positive employee relations and minimize conflicts.

 

Employee Engagement:

  • Works with leadership to maintain compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews policies/handbook and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Design and execute initiatives to enhance employee engagement and morale, including but not limited to events, surveys, and recognition programs.
  • Analyze engagement survey data and collaborate with management to implement action plans based on feedback.

 

Performance Management:

  • Oversee the performance management process, including goal setting, performance reviews, and development plans.
  • Provide guidance to managers on effective performance feedback and coaching techniques.
  • Monitor performance evaluation metrics to ensure fairness and consistency across the organization.

 

Policy Development and Compliance

  • Stay updated on employment laws and regulations to ensure company policies and practices comply.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel when necessary to address compliance issues.

 

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred
  • 7 + years’ experience in Human Resources
  • Thorough knowledge of employment related laws and regulations, California preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism and confidentiality
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Aptitude for critical thinking, problem-solving and decision making
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and to delegate when appropriate
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to achieve results both independently and through others by fostering a spirit of teamwork and cooperation
  • Overnight travel anticipated at 5% or less
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and related software
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn HRIS systems
