POSITION SUMMARY 

Commerce Casino is hiring a senior business intelligence analyst to join its staff of data scientists, engineers, and analysts on the Data Insights team. The team is chartered to add value to the business at the strategic level. The senior analyst will focus on three key areas: using analytical methods to discover and quantify evidence of potential opportunities from historical data, creating static and interactive reports to meet core business intelligence needs, and developing foundations for core business intelligence infrastructure to enable data citizens around the business and upskill analyst colleagues through mentorship and collaboration. Key skills required for this role include: fluency in SQL, analytical training and mindset, proficiency in Tableau and spreadsheets, and a passion for mentorship.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE...

⦁    Analytics. Use analytical methods to discover and quantify potential opportunities from historical data.
⦁    Automated reporting. Develop and automate static reports and dashboards to meet business intelligence needs.
⦁    Data enablement. Develop foundations for business intelligence infrastructure to enable data citizenship. Provide continued mentorship to enable analysts partnered at the department level. Support business- and department-level ad hoc needs.
⦁    Tooling. In support of the above, integrate new external tools with existing capabilities and if required develop ‘homemade’ internal tools to meet team and business needs.
⦁    Product development. Share responsibility for exploratory data analysis, creation of product specs, and project management for business intelligence and analytics products.
⦁    Curation. Develop and maintain documentation and repositories for day-to-day materials (e.g. decks, knowledge, ad hoc code) in the team’s shared cloud space and for production materials in professional repositories (e.g. Git and Confluence).
⦁    Research and development. Propose and develop an R&D channel equal to approximately 10-20% of total time/effort to add value to the team and business in ways that intersect the staff member’s interests and growth. 
⦁    Mentorship. Coach and guide junior- and mid-level analysts in their growth and skill development.

 


QUALIFICATIONS

⦁    Language skills. Ability to comprehend and communicate in English.
⦁    Professional experience. 6+ years full-time as a data analyst, business analyst, business intelligence analyst, business intelligence engineer, or research/applied scientist.
⦁    Domain skills. Knowledge of and experience with fundamentals of analytics, data wrangling, automated reporting, and data visualization.
⦁    Coding skills. Fluency in SQL.
⦁    Proficiency with Tableau.
⦁    Proficiency with spreadsheets.


Work Experience / Education:
⦁    Undergraduate education in data science or analytics, computer science, statistics, business, sciences, or equivalent relatable combination of work experience and certification.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:
⦁    Career and skill certifications from data analytics and/or business intelligence programs such as Coursera, DataCamp, DataQuest, or General Assembly.
⦁    Experience with the Microsoft data stack, Azure, and Databricks.
⦁    Proficiency using Python and/or R.
