DeRoyal is searching for a Tool Maker to work in Powell, Tn.

SUMMARY:

Responsible for performing assembly, disassembly, machine set-up and machining of metal parts to maintain and repair metal molds for injection molding of plastic products.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Conduct operations in accordance with safety requirements.

 

Performing standardized assignments.

 

Following prescribed work methods or explicit instructions.

 

Measuring, marking and scribing metal stock to lie out for manufacturing.

 

Disassembling and assembling molds using hand tools.

 

Setting up and operating equipment such as lathes, grinders, milling machines, radial drill presses, shapers, and planners, EDM as needed.

 

Studying blueprints of products and molds to affect construction or repair of components applying knowledge of shop mathematics.

 

Performing close tolerance measurements of mold components utilizing measuring devices such as gauge pins, micrometer, calipers, CMM or other related equipment.

 

Arrives at work on time and complies with company attendance and tardiness policies.

 

Possess the ability to get along with co-workers, customers and company visitors.

 

Obeys all rules and performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED minimum; Complete a general machining training course (i.e. State Area Vocational School 18-month course) and tool & die apprenticeship.  Three to five years related work experience and/or training preferred. Experience with hot runner molds, basic plumbing and electrical knowledge required.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.  Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry and trigonometry.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Ability to work in a team.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. 

 

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and hearing protection is required on the manufacturing floor unless posted otherwise.

 

Due to the nature of the materials used in the facility, provided hairnets must be worn at all times on the manufacturing floor. Most jewelry, false fingernails and fingernail polish (even clear coat) are prohibited. Beard covers, if applicable, may be required. Protective eyewear is required to be worn at all times when entering the molding work environment.
