Opportunity:

The Senior Data Analyst will provide data-driven insights to DeVry’s management. This position will research data sources from DeVry applications and third parties. They will assess data volume, structure, quality, integrity, completeness in preparation for data preparation, ingestion, and transformation. They will participate in data governance and document meta data and -lineage using guidance from application- and data owners. They will review requirements helping them to build and enhance data models that satisfy DeVry’s information needs. They will perform ongoing data analysis, and as needed may create data dashboards helping to convey the state of data. The individual will work collaboratively with data architects, data engineers, SQL developers, and data integration specialists to provide data management-related technical assistance and recommendations.

Responsibilities:

•    Understand, and document business requirements and acceptance criteria in the form of epics and user stories for complex data projects.
•    Engage with business stakeholders, challenge assumptions and help build scalable analytical solutions.
•    Interpret, collect, wrangle, join and create new data models from a variety of different sources required for various DeVry business functions,
•    Build sufficient contextual data knowledge to provide data concierge services.
•    Document calculations, code, and lineage in Azure PurView adhering to data management best practices,
•    Validate and test data assets, 
•    Identify and lead the remediation of data quality issues impacting our ability to create trusted data models,
•    Combine analytical-, exploratory skills, and data intuition to combine data from various sources to deliver new insights.
•    Enable a scalable data foundation that enables advanced analytical insights providing data as a self-service,
•    Occasionally build business friendly dashboards in Microsoft Power BI
•    Be a trusted advisor for business functions looking for data and insights.

 Qualifications:

•    BS/MS in Data Management or equivalent experience
•    Proficient with SQL, Python, PowerBI
•    5-7 years' experience as a Data Analyst including some experience in data engineering, analytics, insights and reporting, with increasing responsibility in a growth environment preferably in a Higher Education environment that uses Ellucian Banner as a Student Information System. 
•    Some exposure to data governance
•    Ability to tell “data stories” demonstrating the ability to articulate business value
•    Problem solver and adaptive
•    Business knowledge and IT business analysis skills to translate business requirements into data needs
•    Ability to adapt to ambiguity and adjust plans to meet changing needs
•    Knowledge of visualization best practices
•    Must be motivated and be able to contribute in fast paced environment while maintaining quality of performance
